I’m just about to order an LCR018 from LightCarbon as well - what’s size rim and tyre are you planning to fit yours out with?
Hi Andy, out of curiosity: did you consider a custom titanium frame, e.g. from Waltly.
Some of your requirements and thoughts sound like this could be an option for you, as well?
XMCarbonSpeed 28mm internal 36mm external, or the 26/33.
+1 on the rear mount. Cade media on YT advertised the tailfin systems, it's the fancy option for bike packing, w/o using rear mounts.
Rear mounts = gravel frame, and you wont be riding gravel, but a gravel frame isn't a road frame.
From there, the Mondince 126 (see thread) will clear 35C, and is spot on, price wise. It's my next frame. Aero frame.
The Long Teng 301 may be a great choice (see thread), some just built 2 and they look great. All road frame w storage box.
Both come from the same factory, but use different names. My daily driver comes from this factory, and they OEM for Cube & Argon18 among others.
The 126 has the geometry of an SL8 though. The 301 is more relaxed. Neither is endurance geometry, so you'd have to use spacers. Light carbon released a cockpit with ~10mm of positive stack.
Don't limit yourself to having to having to have built in rack frame mtg locations.
Based on personal experience over the past 5 years of Bikepacking \ camping, on very challenging and rough gravel courses, I have migrated to using a seat post rack clamp an "Old Man Mountain Axle kit".
Their thru axles put the weight of your gear right over the rear hub, and the seat post clamps locate the rack's front mount in a great position.
