I'm coming back to check the forum almost daily to see if one of the new 57mm tire clearance frames has an updated geometry chart because part of me apparently refuses to accept that the geometry charts are correct. Uber short reach here, super high BB there,... they all seem to have a flaw at least for what I (and I'd say the majority of riders) am looking for. The only ones so far that get close are the XMCS aero gravel (but front chainring clearance is a concern and price is more than I'd expect for a factory direct chinese frame, even if more premium) and the SP cycle G028 (but it's SP cycles and QC concerns are real ((look at that fork that was posted on that thread)).

I'm starting to believe that I'm the problem here.

Does anyone know if the braking calipers are swappable with shimano or sram calipers?

I am using my eGR with a Shimano XT caliper up front because I have a post mount fork. No issues at all. Just make sure that the calipers you are intending to use are for mineral oil. Sram uses DOT fluid (I think the new mavens use mineral but generally it's DOT) and these are not compatible.

Do you know if the fork offset/trail numbers are correct on these? It would still mean that they'd ride very differently in reality.

Left it charging and when I came back to check it out it’s unresponsive. Light on rd is constantly blinking. Also, no green light on shifters and they are unresponsive. Is it possible rd stayed active and somehow drained shifter batteries?


I can see the mech in the app. When I do the long press on mech button, it resets in the app but the cage does not move.

Honestly, this is more or less how 3 of my RD died. I am on my 4th now which does not have the magnetic charger anymore, so far so good. It always started with a light wash, the RD being unresponsive after, sometimes it came back to life but then started draining batteries or misbehaving in other ways until it fully died. That's the negative. Lucky for me, each RD died within a year of purchase or replacement so the shop I bought from (80s designer store) has been extremely helpful and replaced it each time. I just had to upload proof in form of videos or images and pay for shipping. That's the positive. That being said, my wife's eGR is still going strong after 3 years. Maybe it's me.

Thanks for sharing this so quickly! Apart from the geometry chart which follows next week, can you share some facts about it? Round or proprietary seatpost? Bottom bracket? Internal storage?

Everything is aero nowadays, dropped seatstays, fat tubes, strange holes in frames everywhere. As someone who likes traditional looking frames more, I sometimes feel left out by the market and I suspect that I can't be alone.

I am looking to get a new gravel frameset which I want to ride as well as it looks. My current bike is a dark red 2018 Cannondale CAADX which I've squeezed 40mm tires into and upgraded it to the max. I like the frame shape (even better because it does not have a brake bridge (or mudgard bridge) but the geometry and tech on it is showing its age. From established brands, I'd probably go for a Fiftyone Assassin (if that had a UDH). I know that what I am saying screams steel, aluminium or even titanium bike but what about chinese carbon? To my mind, a new frame should still have 50mm clearance, UDH and progressive geometry with slightly longer reach, HTA of around 70 and steeper STA. 27.2mm round seatpost would be nice, don't care much for internal storage, T47 is good but could do with BSA or even pressfit (larger diameter bottom bracket preferred for DUB axles).

So far the only bike which leans that direction that I've found is an ICAN G9 (https://www.icanbikes.com/Products-list/newest-carbon-gravel-frameset-with-udh-g9/). Tire clearance without mudgards is actually 50mm as stated in the user manual that ICAN has sent me. I have not heard anything about it on this forum.

So anyone who feels the same way: What are the options out there? Do you have a bike like this? Show it off here! Am I just getting old? Let me know!
