Hi All, here's my update.
I ordered this ICAN A9 with the goal of having an "aero" carbon bike with electronic mech and power and carbon everything at a reasonable price. I have a commuter and a gravel bike, both with mechanical 1x and mechanical disc brake and external cable so this was a really different experience building it.
The build:
Frame : ICAN TriAero A9 (54cm)
Handlebar/stem: comes with the frame, ICAN hb25, blade-R (400x100)
Wheel: Lightbicycle A45 with novatech hubs (older wheels I had for a while. Love them)
Groupset : Ltwoo eR9
Crank/power meter: Magene PES 515
Saddle: Ryet Carbon 3d print (Seems to be very comfy from this first ride)
Bottom bracket: Gynea (Token Ninja style, but from AliExpress)
Tires: Specialized Turbo Pro 700x30
I rode my first little ride with it. Here's are my impression:
Building the bike:
An all internal routing bike is very different thany other all external bikes. It required way more preparation and time. I'm happy I bought the magnetic internal routing tool. Also, I can't imagine doing an integrated handlebar/stem if I had mechanical shifting. I loved the fact that the Ltwoo eR9 shifter are wireless.
Also, I know why my other bikes are all 1x. Front derailleurs are such a pain in the ass to adjust correctly.
Also the seatpost that comes with the A9 is dreadfull. I don't think I can change it since it's a "aero" shape seatpost, but the adjustment system is terrible and it's heavy. Once all is installed, it's ok. It's not a deal breaker, but if I could change it, I would.
First ride:
I only did a 40k, so my review doesn't mean much and I'm sure I'm biased, but it felt so quick. I never owned an "aero" bike before. The slight shift in my position and I guess the aero shape of the frame seemed to really make a difference. When getting up, the frame felt snappy and not flexy. The ride didn't feel harsh, but then again all my other bikes are aluminum, so what do I know? The frame was silent. No cracking or rattling.
Anyway, happy of the build so far, especially for the price. I hope I'll still be happy after more miles
