Component Deals & Selection / Re: AliExpress F28 / DT 180 front hub?
« on: March 04, 2021, 09:46:44 PM »
They want $120 for it, plus shipping.

I can order a Newmen Fade for that price. Granted, it’s 110g, but it has a warranty and good, high quality bearings. Or a DT 240 for $10 more.

Component Deals & Selection / AliExpress F28 / DT 180 front hub?
« on: March 03, 2021, 03:59:27 PM »
I was taking a look at various wheel and hub options on AliExpress and stumbled across these wheels.

Nothing about them was particularly impressive to me, but then I saw the front hub. Keep scrolling down until you get to the "Hub" section. They state that it's a ~95g, CL, SP, Boost front hub. It looks REALLY similar to the current version of the 180. To me, a front hub is a thing that a rotor attaches to, attaches to a fork, and houses bearings. I care about it a whole lot less than a rear hub. And, I'm perfectly fine with swapping out the bearings it it to something of higher quality down the line. So, this really intrigues me.

Anyone ever seen this sold separately? I'm going to send them a message and see if they will sell it on its own.

29er / Re: 29er XC Hardtail - Boost - Modern Geometry
« on: January 30, 2021, 02:21:49 PM »
Given that a 34 SC has an A-C of 530mm, and the listed geometry of the LCM908 is with a 490mm A-C, it will change significantly with either a 100mm or 120mm fork. They are using the equivalent of an 80mm 29er fork for their geo; those aren’t even in production anymore.

I.e., that 69.5 degree HTA becomes a 67.5 degree HTA with a 120 up front.

29er / Yeti ARC/Modern 29er HT?
« on: January 24, 2021, 05:09:55 PM »
Anyone seen anything that resembles the geometry of the 2021 Yeti ARC?

It’s a nice blend of modern reach and HTA without being extreme or overly heavy.

That Carbonda FM936 REALLY looks like a NS copy. Interesting frame.

Vendor Discussion & Reviews / Wind-Vane Cycling Rims
« on: November 24, 2020, 12:39:13 PM »
Has anyone bought from this vendor? I'm specifically looking at their 29mm inner width 29er rims. "Lifetime warranty", but as far as I can tell, they have 0 reviews and appear to be a brand new vendor.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I ended up order one in 80mm, -25, 740mm.

Kind of perplexed by the appearance. Does not really resemble the "Nino" handlebar. Much more curvaceous, for lack of a better word, instead of the more angular appearance that his handlebar has. The other, cheaper versions of this bar actually bear a closer resemblance to the Syncros bar, with the main difference being the barrel nuts used on this one and the cheaper version using nuts molded into the stem/bar.

I'm wondering if the -17 degree option bears more of a likeness to the original version.

Also, I could not get my right side shifter (Gripshift) onto the handlebar. I'm asking the seller to resolve it; we'll see what happens.

What is the stack height on these?

Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Dengfu R10 or similar?
« on: August 05, 2018, 10:33:54 PM »
Hello all.

Have any of you seen a Dengfu R10 or similar frame? I've seen it sold by Dengfu and Shenzen Baolijia.

http://www.dengfubikes.com/ROAD_FRAME/248.html

https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/2018-NEWEST-FULL-HIDDEN-CARBON-DISC_60744074958.html?spm=a2700.7724838.2017005.3.3d151819UCE6zO

Any ride reviews? Pictures? I'm trying to find a semi-aero disc road frame with a round seatpost. Ideally, I could run a dropper and 1x11 with the left shifter operating the dropper seatpost.

Thanks!

Cyclocross Frames, Wheels & Components / Re: Carbonda Gravel CFR505 build
« on: January 17, 2018, 05:58:23 PM »
What's the total weight on this beast?

Looks fairly light.

I'd love to build up a sub-16lb gravel bike.

Any updates?

Considering the CFR 505 myself and I'd like to see what your end result looks like. Off to a great start, though. The frame looks amazing!

Thanks Lisa, but we’re looking for lightweight full suspension frames, not cyclocross or 650b hardtail.

@everybody else: I got an answer from hongfu - no XL/21“ version either :((((

If you're going to respond to Lisa/TanTan, you should at least check out their site and realize that they make a <2000g Scott Spark replica.

29er / 29er Fork with Bottle Mounts
« on: December 17, 2017, 12:23:00 PM »
Hey guys.

Trying to build up a gravel/bikepacking rig. I have a HT 29er frame I don't use, so I'm looking for a rigid carbon 29er fork to pair with it. I'm planning to put a short-ish stem and 46mm road bars on it.

But, the fork. Anyone know of any Chinese manufacturers making/selling a 29er fork with bottle mounts? Not very particular about A-to-C, but I'd really like to be able to put some Salsa Anything cages on it for additional cargo capacity.

Probably looking to spend $150 max, but I'm flexible. I love the Rodeo Labs Spork, but it's just way, way too expensive for this project (which consists of old parts I no longer use).

Thanks!

29er / Re: looking for a frame with modern geometry
« on: November 19, 2017, 05:57:01 PM »
Just to know, what a modern geometry/boost bike has that is so much better ?

Oops, my bad - Slack head angle means better handling at higher speeds and over rough terrain. Steep head angles are for racing bikes on double track or sanitized singletrack.

That's just ridiculous. But, what is "steep"?

My favorite new frame would be the CS-FS27.

I have a -057 from XMCarbon Speed as well. Great bike.
