29er / Re: 29er XC Hardtail - Boost - Modern Geometry
« on: January 13, 2023, 11:18:14 AM »
I have built bike with this frame (size M) for my girlfriend in september. I think it is the best downcountry hardtail frame at this moment - good reach numbers, good saddle position, perfect headtube angle (66.0 with 120 mm fork).

I have found only two problems:
1. Chainline must be 53 mm or wider. With smaller numbers chainring is rubbing chainstay. Checked with 32, 34 and 36-teeth chainrings on M8100 crankset (52 mm) and installed M8000-B (53.4 mm) without any problems.
2. Some calipers with 160mm rotors can not be fitted into the rear stays (M6000). But I haven't any problems with M8100 and M7100 with 180 mm.

Yesterday I have recieved the same frame for me and my friends building another two bikes with this frame. Chameleon painting is awesome.

Looks good, I'm strongly considering this frame. Can I ask how tall is you GF? I'm 5'7, thinking the 17" (medium) should be good. Also, what do you think of the seat stay? Is this a compliance thing? It looks less strong then a straight stay.

I can't get the axle into the hanger with or w/o the hub. We've got two extra hangers, I may try grinding away on one of them.

What was wrong with the axles? I always use the ones coming with the frame.
Putting some copper grease on the thread as they are hard to start with.

My only bad one is on my FM936 where I got a Torx30, that no multi tool has.
But by using/forcing an hex 6mm, I converted it  ::)

Buddy of mine is building a 909 for his kid. Frame looks great, but the axle will not thread into the RD hanger. Axle isn't bent, so I'm thinking the frame holes don't align. The axle threads into the hanger just fine when its not in the bike frame. Anybody experience this and have a possible fix? We haven't tried grease, but curious if that was the problem the copper grease fixed.

My son bought this frame (fm1001) and were trying to find a shock. RS makes a "Deluxe Nude" that has a M/M tune. 185x55, trunnion and remote. I THINK this will work, but the remote cable routing looks not great at the shock.

Has anyone built this frame up w/ a shock remote?

Thanks!

078 is the boost version of the 058. (I will be extremely disappointed if a hardtail arrives!)

Does the leverage ratio on your 058 seam pretty constant? No "platform"? I was thinking if the RP2's tune was not compatible I'd try x-fusions "micro-lite". I see no tune options for this shock (micro-lite).

Build looks great sclyde2. I just bought the FM078. What tune does your rear shock have? I plan to use a Float RP2 that has M rebound, L velocity and 350 boost valve tune (I don't understand this all to well).  Any opinion? thx

Nathan from MN (yay snow). What a great forum. Thank you all that contribute!
I bought my first carbon frame (IP136) 4 years ago from Peter back when he was still with IPlay. I bought some carbon rims from him too.
Currently looking to build a FS 29er - that's what brought me here.  (If anyone has advice I would gladly take it. I ride mostly xc, some marathon. Terrain is somewhat flat (MN). I am a lighter weight rider if that matters.)  Cheers!
