Hi everyone, in a bit of a tricky situation here. Here's the crank in question: https://tinyurl.com/3c4jpuu2

My Zrace RX crank uses a self-extracting cap + threaded 8mm hex insert on the drive side (like a dub). The torque spec outlined on the cap is 50 Nm and after taking the crank off a few times, the aluminum has totally stripped out of the 8mm hex key slot. The 8mm hex key insert is totally rounded out and I need to replace it, but the self-extracting cap requires a tool that looks like a large 8-sided flower (ie. shimano hollowtech, except it's way bigger, I measured the "flower indents" as 19mm across!).

The cap reads "16mm, 30Nm", but searching "16mm hollowtech crank cap extractor" yields no results, all the tools I can find are for standard smaller hollowtech cranks. I have no idea where I can obtain such a socket. Any clue?

Also, I was going to be replacing the crank cap assembly with a generic M18/M30 dub cap, has anyone done this successfully? Are there different sizes I should be checking before ordering? Here's an example of what I was thinking of getting https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003230950172.html?spm=a2g0o.store_pc_groupList.8148356.59.683b3a56UPLIDa

Edit: After 24h of searching, I  have found the tool in the bowels of Aliexpress, posting a link below for posterity. Still trying to figure out if the M18/M30 dub cap will work!

Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Re: Canyoan Aeroad geometry

Tantan (Seraph on aliexpress) make a very similar open-mold frame to the Canyon Aeroad, they call it TT-X1. They also have TT-X2 and TT-X3 which are in the same ballpark

Ask them for a shipping quote and see if its reasonable for you.

I did this and they said minimum order is 20 pieces lol. No wonder the price was that good

The rest are not 105 and likely inferior (crankset, chain, etc.).

Yes I agree, but at the pricepoint of $500 USD I can't really complain and would upgrade over time as the off-brand components inevitably wear out.

Personally I do not buy a complete bike, because I want to fit specific components to it, most of which would not match what this vendor is using.

Can you elaborate on what wouldn't work with this bike as far as upgrades go? So that I can know what to look for in the future. I tried to spec out a complete build on a Seraph (Tantan) 2021 TT-X3 frame, which looks nearly identical to this Twitter frame - however, the frameset alone would be $355. So you could probably see why I would lean toward getting a full bike for now to start with, and then upgrade parts of it later as needed.

I recently joined the forum and interested in getting a complete bike too (would be my first road bike) but I am skeptical about the price of the bikes you linked. I mean, for starters how would you know if the groupset is an authentic Shimano 105? Seems a little too good to be true. In general, where do the suppliers usually skimp on the quality to meet the price point?

From what I've read on this forum so far, it seems like people only go for individual frames / groupsets / rims when going down the aliexpress route. Why aren't the complete bikes more popular?
