Bringing this thread back to life.    I rode a grueling 590 mile bikepacking ride recently.  I ran one of my Wheeltop EDS OX derailleur systems on the 1X12 bike I used.  I shifted great, until it didn't....

The ride I rode was really hard on my bike.   Root fields, rocks, hike-a-bike hiking trails, well used quad trails, abandoned trails.  Many mud bogs, creek crossings, river crossings and downed trees.     About 300 miles into the ride the chain started jumping off my 50 cog into the spokes.  Thought it was the derailleur, but turned out to be a broken tooth on the 50 cog that would let the chain get thrown.     Further into the ride, the derailleur stopped shifting smoothly across many of the gears.  About 500 miles into the ride, I could no longer shift out of my 3 highest gears until I shifted a 4th time, then it would jump across all 4 gears.  It also stopped shifting into my highest gear.   (I figured most of this was due to a stretched out chain.)

This derailleur has at most 1500 miles on it!!!

I was able to keep the OX shifting just good enough to finish the ride.

Today I spent 6 hours trying to get the OX derailleur to shift smoothly again.   So far no luck!   I replaced my front chainring, new chain, and swapped in a near new ZTTO cassette.    No matter what I adjust, I can't get the derailleur to shift out of the highest gear into the next lower gear.

- I've added 2 chain links, too loose, and then removed one.  Better..
- I have adjusted the "B" screw so many times that the OEM threadlock compound is worn of the threads.
- I ran down my cell phone battery using the app hour after hour trying to adjust the cassette gears to a good trim, and trying to get it to shift smoothly.
- It appeared that the derailleur cage was twisted and bent.   I spent over an hour, gradually flexing/bending the long cage trying to get it perfectly aligned with the smallest gear.  (This hasn't helped.)

My next step is to remove the derailleur and swap with another EDS OX off of another bike.

I am beginning to think that the Wheeltop EDS OX isn't a very robust derailleur...

EDIT:   I put on a new derailleur.  It set up and it shifts quickly and correctly across all the gears.  It took me about 20 minutes total to get it to work.

WHAT THE F**CK GOES BAD/FAILS WITH THE WHEELTOP ESD OX DERAILLEURS THAT MAKES IT SO THAT THERE IS NOT ENOUGH FORCE TO SHIFT OUT OF THE HIGHEST GEAR/SMALLEST COG!!!

Now, I have 2 EDS OX rear derailleurs with the same problem!!!

Damn that sucks.  Any problems with getting them warrantied?

Interesting comments on hydraulic hoses.  I'm on the stock ones and they feel great and are working fine.  I'm about 100kg.

When I do major maintenance I will look into replacing the hoses but I am skeptical of any gains.

Hi we are a wheeltop retailer in canada. Im sure my business partner can answer this question if no one else chimes in.

paul@ciclowerks.com

Where is your wheeltop listing for sale?

If my fingers/hands don't have some sort of contact with the shifters, they would rattle over bumpy terrain.  You can test it by lifting up the front of your bike a few inches off the ground and dropping it.  Not a deal breaker but it's there.

A rare occurrence for me as I would typically have my fingers on the shifters ready to brake on rough patches.

I posted this on the Facebook EDS forum.  I had a concerning incident yesterday with my EDS TX hydraulic brakes.

Yesterday, on a gradual descent, coasting at around 25kph, (15mph) I was approaching an "S" curve on a trail that I ride numerous time per week.  I wanted to apply a small amount of braking power, so I pulled on the brakes to slow down just a little to make the first turn.  As I applied force to the levers, both levers "locked in place" at about 25% travel, and the hydraulic calipers did not brake on the rotors.   This quickly became an "Oh Shit" moment!  I pulled harder on the levers and they would not budge, and I was still accelerating into the turn.  I dove through the turn to the next short straight section, let go of the levers, then tried quickly pumping them, but they were still locking at about 25% travel.   Just as I was starting to panic, and my speed was now over 30kph (20mph), I pulled on the levers again and they worked normally, and I was able to slow down enough to make the next turn.

Has anyone else experienced "locked brake levers"?

This is very concerning and I don't have a clue why this happened.  Now I have doubts that these brakes will work all the time in the future, braking power that I take for granted for my safety and life.

I have a 160 mile ride that starts this Friday July 19th that starts at midnight, and I have concerns that I will be coasting down a long descent and the brakes will not work again.  I keep walking up to my bike and pull the brake levers to be sure they are still working....

This is concerning.  I've not had any issues with mine but now I'll be thinking about it whenever I ride.   :'(

I'm glad I found this site, it looks like the place to hopefully get some help with the issue without kneejerk responses.
I installed Hydraulic EDS TX on my bike 2 months ago, it was a bit finicky to set up but it's been perfect since then. Until yesterday. My rear derailleur has lost its mind. It no longer shifts and sometimes disconnects from the app before I can even get to the debugging menu. The red charging light was flashing for hours yesterday and is on today without the charging cable connected. I believe everything is paired because all 4 components show up in the App and because I re-paired everything just in case. In the App it says it's in a different gear nearly everytime I look at it.
I'm kind of freaking out and after describing it I'm not feeling very hopeful. The manual is not helpful for any of this so I'm hoping someone might be able to offer some guidance. Is there a way to reset it completely? If it's not something I can fix myself does anyone know the best way to contact Wheeltop, I think I saw somewhere they have a Canadian office or distributor? I haven't looked yet but hopefully you can buy individual components now.
Thanks for any help you can offer. I guess it's always a bit of a gamble buying from AliExpress but in the end I know given how much stuff I buy I'm still way ahead.

Ezbike.ca (Richmond Hill, Ontario) is their distributor for the OX (older removable battery model). Don't think they will be much help for the TX.

Wheeltop will not support warranty if you purchased from other channels such as AliExpress - they will advise you to deal with the reseller.

I'm not familiar with your issue, hopefully the AliExpress seller will be able to help you out with a replacement.

have connected my EDS-TX to my Bryton Rider 420.
Since then, I have made a visual walkthrough video for reference.

The gearing is not backwards for you right?  It's in reverse order on my Karoo2.

Arrived to my door in 4 days.  That was quick.  First impressions  - looks well made.  Preload is aluminum which i like.  Doesn't come with any spacers.  Got to order some before I can install.

Additional thoughts.  All edges are beveled, no sharp corners. Everything is machined to a nice degree and the finish is spot on.  Mine weighed in at 574.5 grams minus the 3 bolts.  Really happy with this purchase.  Haven't ridden on it yet so no thoughts on functional use at the moment.

I was torn on the titanium vs the black.  Ended up getting the black.  Will take photos when I get it.

Just bought it.  Couldn't wait for shorter options.

This is pretty dumb. How hard is it to assign a serial # to each groupset? Their warranty process is just pure laziness. The EDS TX is already in Shimano 105 Di2 AliEx pricing territory. At least with the 105 Di2, spare parts are plentiful and quality assurance to chance buying from a reseller is much better.

It has serials - I don't think it's a problem of identifying their own product but rather they've come the decision that the purchasing retailer/channel is who would handle warranty issues.  For my issue with the adjustment screw, the AliExpress seller was happy to deal with it, I just had to get it back to them in China.  I ended up just fixing myself.

Definately will limit acceptance outside of Asia until they can improve servicing globally. Unfortunate.    It will be a small niche of people like the ones in here willing to accept the servicing hassles that will be buying.
