Component Deals & Selection / Re: XD 12 speed cassette options

Maybe you could try a spacer/washer between the derailleur and the hanger. When I first set up my Sensah SRX pro, I could not get the derailleur to shift fine in the smallest 3 or the biggest 3 sprockets. Turned out I needed to install a 2mm washer to get it all to work OK-ish.

Thanks for the advice, but I definitely do not understand how a washer could help. You put the washer moving the derailleur further outwards, then you readjusting limit screws, and what have changed now?

Yes.  Everything shifting fine and running smoothly.
Interesting. What derailleur/shifter combo are you using? I've been riding exactly the same cassette but with Sroad branding since 2022 and both of my SLX and Deore derailleurs paired with GX shifter seems to "overshoot" on lowest gears. Whis causes chain rub on second gear and exceptionally bad downshifting from first gear. The derailleur hanger was trued and I also tried 2 new hangers with the same result.

Slapped the cassette on, cut the chain (I stripped and waxed the fancy looking lightweight hollow chain it arrived with) and spun it through the gears.  The WheelTop EDS didn’t miss a beat and needed no adjustments.  Went up and down the road, everything seems perfect.  Will hopefully get in a nice long ride this weekend if the weather holds out.
Do you have good shifting in 3 lowest gears?

SA/HA relation is almost same as with drawings: 76/65.8 vs 77/67, 0.2deg difference. So where's en error?
67-65.8=0.2? Nice

One guy on German forum posted this calculation. It's based on real A2C dimensions for 120mm forks instead of weird 520mm in Carbonda's drawing. And even these calculations are closer to Arno Knell measurements than to data provided by Carbonda.

New 120mm linkage installed.
The old linkage is on the left side of the pictures.
Thanks for sharing this! Have you measured the distance between seatstay bridge and seat tube at full stroke?

You should note that in addition to the linkage you need  a 45mm stroke shock (I just cut the travel spacer out of my RS nude) and different shock mounting hardware.
What is the difference in shock hardware comparing to the old link?

Any news about FM936 with 120mm travel option?

I double checked the measurements, and that is correct. When the post is all the way down, it's about 65 mm from the base of the collar to the center of the seat rails. It's a Trans-X dropper, which I believe is the same as the PNW and possibly others as well.

As far as I know, Tranx-X, Brand X Ascend and PNW Bachelor are all the same thing, so I measured my old Ascend 150mm and got 63 mm from collar bottom to center of rails. So it's definitely not 70 mm, but your current dropper will not fit 936 XL. Good thing is that you doesn't need something with very low stack height like OneUp, Wolftooth or Bikeyoke/Manitou - even new'ish PNW Loam 170 mm with its 50 mm collar-to-rails will fit.

My saddle-rails to BB height is about 770 mm. The issue with the dropper length is the saddle height, not insertion. The seat tube on my bike is 530 mm, and I have the post inserted all way (170 mm drop).

This sounds very strange, because it means that your dropper has extremely high stack height of 240mm, and this is really huge value for 170mm of drop. It means that post collar + seat clamp are 70mm and all droppers that I know have less.

The Carbonda FM936 has a very long seat tube, so I'd have to get a shorter dropper (maybe 150 mm max?).

Not really. For my 936 L-sized frame Carbonda claims 230mm of max post insertion, but actually it is closer to 260mm. This allows me (183cm tall) to use any 170-180mm dropper, and even probably I can fit OneUp 210 if I want to. So while seat tube and claimed max insertion depths changes simultaneously by 50mm between L and XL frames, I suppose that real max insertion on XL will be about 310mm and you will be able to use higher travel dropper.

What's you seat height now (measured from saddle rails to BB)?

Some fovno cranksets have had tolerance issues. But like most things Ali, you may get a solid one, or a dud.

Interesting video, thanks. Never noticed such problem with Fovno ckanks I held in hand, but good news are that solution is two-minute work on grinder.

I have had similar issues and Wheels Mfg sells spacers that fit the 24mm spindle.  The ones I have are .5mm thick so one or two per side and you are all set.  Then you can use the Shimano BB.
There are also spacer sets on Ali - for both 24 and 29mm spindles. In the set there are 3x0.2mm steel spacers and 3 aluminum ones: 1, 2 and 3mm. Whole set costs nearly nothing.

Are there any Ali mtb cranks you'd recommend?
Fovno makes good ones. Most models have 24mm axle and one latest - 29mm. All axles are aluminum, but one 24mm on my gf's bike successfully survived whole this season with no issues. A buddy of mine uses 3 Fovno cranks (all 24mm also) - one on his training bike and 2 on his childs' bikes.
There is a thread about them here: http://chinertown.com/index.php/topic,2959.0.html
