Hi, I have been lurking in this thread for a while, but now finally the time has come to assemble my own VB-R-177. I received the frame few days ago, but I am largely still waiting for other parts. One of the things that arrived in my mail today was the bottom bracket. It came with a ~2mm spacer, that I am unsure whether it is needed, or which side of the bottom bracket I should put it on. I am attaching an image to make sure you understand what I mean.

I have a Shimano 105 R7100 crankset, and I will be running the L-TWOO eR9 groupset. How would I determine whether I need to put on this spacer? Did you put one on when you were assembling this frame?

please look in the manual of the bracket, the frame is BB86 in the manual you will find how many spacers on which side you need, for example if it is a sram Dub bracket it woult be one spacer on the right side (which i assume should also be fine for you)

i would go with small,
the vbr ist long in my oppinion and the seatpost with the offset makes it even longer

Has anybody tried to fix the spacers with glue to one big spacer to reduce noises?

I took the velobuild VB-R-168 in 56cm Sram Force etap carbon wheels from velobuil all together slightly above 8 kg and below 4.000 EUR

comunication witch velobuild was very easy (inc. painting)
build up was done in 2 days

riding the bike now for 1,5 years, everything works fine
now would go with the VB-R-177 because of the classic seatpost
VB-R-168 is only available with aero seatpost an 20mm off-set

I don't thinkt thats normal,
first check the length of the fork
second check the expander, sometimes it happens that it becomes loose

VeloBuild put a post up on Instagram not too long ago saying they were going to produce a 0mm offset post for the VB-R-168 after the demand they've seen for the VB-R-099 they recently released.

I'm sure if you send them a message they'll let you know when it's going to be available.

that sounds great, many thanks for the info :)

So managed to mount the new handlebar,
worked quite fine,
brakes have to be bleeded afterwards but with a string easy to get in the handlebar

spacers look a bit cheap, its plastic
the old one from Velobuild are made of metal and definitly look better

I ordered this one
https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005003979283641.html?spm=a2g0o.order_detail.0.0.2f106368sUIBsJ&gatewayAdapt=glo2deu

440x100mm
old one was
440x110mm but with the curved shape the new one is 4cm shorter and the postition of the Brakes does me fit much better

12
As already mentioned i don't like the handlebar and ordered a new shorter straight one

new on has arrived, like the packaging :)
hope i have time on the weekend for mounting and testing

keep you posted

has anybody tried a different handlebar on the 168

I ordered this one

should arrive middle of july,
hope it fits

I ride the HB010, thinking about switching to the HB011 as i don't like the curved form,
i also read that the HB011 should be a little bit stiffer

i love the clean look of both that's why i wouldn't go for the seperate stem

15
I bulid up the VB-R-168 in 58
188 cm with 92 inseam
which is quite long due to the curved handlebar (440/120), thinking about switching to a straight one,

Bike rides great, mounting without any problems
but next time i would go with the 177 because of the seatpost,
the aero seatpost from the 168 is only availabe with 20mm offset, and till know i haven't found any other seatpost fitting which limits your flexibiltity in bikefitting

Quality/price relation is definitly a buy
