Eddy,
since the frame looks slightly different from what it was on the first page, updated graphs from linkage(leverage curve, axle path, etc.), geometry tables would be much appreciated.
Thank you.

So how does it work with a coil shock?

So I used the screenshot from Linkage X3 to look at the leverage ratio. Not quite as progressive as one might want, definitely not coil shock compatible since it's completely flat towards the end. Leaves room to hope that this screenshot is not the final design.
This is kinda odd, since norco specifically states that new range is something like coil shock specific. Had Haideli screwed up kinematics?

I had gt sensor 2014(btw, one of the brand frames which didn't have spacers between bearings) and chainstays around lower pivot were scratched as hell when I sold it, so yeah,  bash plate is a must around lower pivot

Also it would be interesting to see how haideli implemented the idler and the chain guide around it.
IMO chainguide and that bash plate need to be good and available as spares since it's unique parts to this frames.

The Range also uses bolt-on metal dropouts and the carbon ends at the rear pivot (where seatstay and chainstay meet). The 838 is all carbon in this area. That might not be problematic, but there’s probably a reason why Norco went that route.

Speculations

I'm thinking that's might be so they have the same rear carbon triangle across all sizes while still being able to adjust chainstays length for different frame sizes.  Should be easier / cheaper to machine dropouts and rocker link rather than the whole different triangles altogether for each size.

Haideli doesn't bother with different chainstay lengths so hopefully that might not be an issue.

/Speculations

Geometry chart? Leverage curves?

Water bottle mounts like on Norco Range?

Norco uses a different rocker link for each of the frame sizes. Have haideli adressed this in any way?

There doesn't seem to be a spacer inside the frame between the inner races. This means that if you torque the bolts too tight, the eyelets will flex inward and push the inner races inwards, crushing the balls :o This is not a great pivot design
Indeed, not a great design, though as far as I know this is quite common and even for some brand frames. One local mechanic has been ranting about this for years now :D And in extreme cases he usually machines spacers to remedy this.

I'm almost sold on fs830, but I'll wait for Stef to post some after ride reports :)

My friend had that ztto bb and bearings failed after a month or so of regular xc rides(3-4 long rides a week).
As far as I know he just hammered out stock bearings and pressed in enduro bearings into the cups. It has been more than a year already and still works.

Thank you for the new thread. It got really hard to keep up with your posts and updates on the build in original FS830 thread due to... well.. philosophical topics.

I'm very interested in the frame myself, ability to use a coil shock is a big plus for me over 831, so every photo, detail and subjective feelings on the frame and the future completed bike are much appriciated.

Thanks again  :)

Looking at your photos, I can't explain why but this pivot looks suspicious to me:

does it "feel" okay?

Looks like a lcfs947.
But still has the same issues: very short seatpost insertion length and probably no coil (w/o modification).
I was looking at lcfs947 but not being able to use 150+ mm dropper on M sized frame is a deal breaker.

What kind information you need for FS830? Let's me know, thanks.

The questions were asked in this thread http://chinertown.com/index.php/topic,3522.msg33222.html#msg33222
See that last post from JJJ and I'm pretty sure that it's not only me who would like to see detailed photos of pivots and linkages.
Thanks.

That's not my frame but it is the first one locally, afaik. Usually when someone buys chinese frame some issues are expected, though there are quite a few different chinese XC frames around and I've never heard of so many issues with them as with 831.
We have a good mechanic who works with all kinds of stuff and this frame should be going directly to him for fixes and improvements. It would be interesting to hear what he thinks and how the build is going to go in general.

As for me, I'm waiting for more info on fs830, hope Eddy will come up with answers and photos.

One of the local guys just got the frame.
There is a noticeable lateral play in the lower link right out of the box.

Don't even know what say.
I mean, in total there are issues with upper linkage, lower linkage and rear triangle, lower linkage and front triangle...

My intention is, as said, to go mullet and use a shock of 213x63, which will give around 170mm rear travel. If required with one or two 2mm offset bushings in case the shock would be too long.
A 27.5x2.4" rear wheel should clear the seat post if it was good for 29x2.4" (acc. Eddy's post) @ 150mm rear travel.

Have the same idea, since I already have carbon mullet wheelset. From the bottom end of things should be okay if I calculated it right. Around 170 travel and the difference between 27.5 and 29 is 19mm of radius, so should be okay. And then 210-55 = 155, 216-63 = 153 when fully compressed, 2mm is around 5.5mm of travel on average, so should not be an issue.

I'm a bit worried about the other side of things and would be there enough clearance between front and rear triangles near the bottom bracket with 216 shock.

Nevertheless, I'll probably wait a couple of month and wait for reviews since I spent the budget on fixing my eyesight ;D

How much clearance does the frame have to allow for longer/shorter (216x63//200x57mm) shock??

By the way, also was thinking about this. 27.5 rear wheel with 216x63 shock with offset hardware.

coil shock most definitely will not work.
Can you make a pic of that opening in seattube? And measure it's height and width?
Thanks.

that orange looks amazing on photo.
