G'day Jayrod1980,

Cyclocross will use a drivetrain based on road--perhaps with a different gearing. I sold my road bike, and only use the cyclocross now because of its versatility on road, gravel, and a little bit of single track. For my weight, I like the insurance of the disc brakes, plus the extra confidence in corners (33mm knobby tyres).

Tonight I completed my first Chiner cyclocross build  (a 49cm frame for my daughter) using Shimano 105 throughout, replacing the rim brakes with Shimano CX77 cable discs.

And, for those wondering about the "walk on Parliament" comment -- it's covered in grass.  Here's a photo of Parliament House, Canberra -- with my Al cyclocross...

Well, I went with Yoeleo (yoeleobikes.com) again for my fourth chiner carbon frame, and first cyclocross build -- a 49cm frame for my daughter.

Delivery was 4 days to my door (China to Australia). Very straight forward build, with most parts from chainreactioncycles.com , plus a few odds and ends from the LBS.

Shimano 105 drivetrain and STI shifters, Shimano CX77 cable discs.

Any advice on a chiner fat bike frame suitable for overnight touring (ie, with pannier mounts)?

Cheers

When I built my two Chiners, did I go with thru axle, hell ya!  Why, because I was buying all new parts anyway so why not jump into the latest standard.  Since you have legacy components you want you use, just go with the standard QR and later if you want to get a new wheelset, upgrade your frame to the thru axle standard.  If I were you, I would order an extra set of 12x142 drop outs as well as QR, that way you will have them for any future upgrades.

Hey Carbon_Dude, I'm embarrassed to ask, but are the frames actually the same rear wheel spacing for the 135mm QR and 12x142 thru axles? Is the extra 7mm only in the replaceable dropouts?  So, if I have a 135mm 29er, I could seek replacement dropouts so that I can use my 12x142 wheels on both bikes?

Cheers!

G'day,

Whilst looking at the cyclocross frame options, one of the differences that I have noticed is the positioning of the mounts for the disc brake calipers.

From looking at their website images, Yoeleo, XMiPlay, Flyxii appear to mount to the chain stay, whilst Dengfu and Hongfu appear to mount to the seat stay.

Any opinions which would be better?

I tend to think that chain stay would be better due to the increased cross-section of the frame at that point, and the instant torque which would be generated at the opposite end of the stay against the seat tube (in the vicinity of the bottom bracket for chain stay mount vs top of the seat tube for the seat stay mount).

Cyclocross Frames, Wheels & Components / Cyclocross Build Advice

G'day,

Has anyone built a chiner cyclocross yet? If so, do you have any advice on the various frames available, brake options and (my nemesis!) crankset/chainline considerations?

Cheers

Vendor Discussion & Reviews / Re: Chinese Carbon Vendor List

Yoeleo is active on Facebook, and the marketing girl who does all of their YouTube videos is also just starting out on Strava.

I find that comms with Yoeleo via Facebook Messenger is very effective, sometimes with instant responses.

I note that by their website 'About Us' details, Yoeleo and Iplay are both in Xiamen--only a 25 min drive apart (according to Google Maps)

sorry for the delay.

The correct link for Yoeleo is www.yoeleobike.com

To date, I have ordered, received and built:
  • a 29er hardtail as a full rigid single speed (frame, forks, seat post, integrated handlebars, wheels, biddon cage)
  • a 650B soft tail as a 1x10 for my daughter (frame, biddon cage)
  • a 29er soft tail as a 1x10 (frame, seat post, integrated handlebars, biddon cage)

I have also ordered a 48cm cyclocross frame and seat post for my daughter.

To date, everything from Yoeleo has been great...

Cyclocross Frames, Wheels & Components / Re: Chinese Carbon Cyclocross

Just ordered my first Chiner Cyclocross frame. A 48cm from Yoeleo ( frame YCMCSF1 ) for my daughter to use on road and gravel trail--and perhaps a little actual cyclocross racing here in Canberra, Oz. It'll be my fourth carbon frame from Yoeleo...

I'll post pictures and detail of the build..

Cheers
