Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Re: Carbonda Cfr 1056

I can only answer two of those questions:

- does changing the headset to the FSA ACR involve any additional adjustments or is it a drop-in replacement?

Drop in replacement. I run this setup.

- is the BB included? is a good idea to upgrade it to… (which one)?

No. In fact the only Chinese frame I've ever heard of as coming with a BB is Jesse Coyle's crap Tavelo, which came with a crap BB (IYKYK). I'm running SRAM DUB Wide cranks with a BBInfinite BB.

Hi
You did it cost?
To whom do you talked to?
Thanks and beautifull frameset.
Regards

You know, both of your questions were answered in the post you're reacting to.

Thanks!

After changing out some bottle and accessory mount bolts for more minimalist ones the frame weighed in at 1840g and the fork I chose (the beefier one with more tire clearance is 530g.

Thank you. I went for the Chinese "zhāocáimāo" rather than Japanese Maneki-neko, because...well...China. I enjoyed doing the graphic design and seeing my artwork turn out so well on the frame. Amy at Waltly has been very easy to work with. I turned my final drawing into a blueprint that's already hanging on my wall.

More details to follow. For now, the first photos of the finished frame...

You might be right. I'm not sure. I have a 2021 CFR-1056 and have run Schwalbe G-One Allarounds in a 35 on my Farsports wheels and they weren't  close to rubbing. I can't attest that a 38 won't rub.

I think tires will have a bigger impact on comfort than the frame. This frame will fit 32c tires so if you need max comfort go that route.

I've had 38mm tires on my 1056 with no issues.

You might get your best answers int the CFR-1136 thread:

The good news is you can still find the alloy version of those bars rebranded as "Control Tech" on Amazon. A few bucks more expensive than the Prime branded version, but the ergonomics are the best in my collection of bars.

Thanks for this tip. I wish they came narrower.

I sense that you have no love for Carbonda, or Flybike frames in general. Why is that?

pretty sure it is this one, but double check -https://www.aliexpress.us/item/2255800198240324.html?spm=a2g0o.store_pc_allItems_or_groupList.0.0.e36c589eTeFlaH&pdp_npi=4%40dis%21USD%21US%20%2422.00%21US%20%2410.34%21%21%2122.00%2110.34%21%402103010e17060179970608896eb671%2110000001573941337%21sh%21US%212777477%21&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa

On mine, the hanger would rattle loose (could probably use some loctite) and the screw isn't the highest quality. So with a small wrench and retightening, I have had the wrench slip a couple of times.  I bought an extra as backup, a cheap part to have a backup on.

Thanks. This is the one that fits my Carbondas. I'm going to see if it fits the Seraph.

I agree it is frustrating.   For what its worth,  the yxbikes ebay store offers the frame with axles and headset all together at the lowest price.

While you are at it, I would buy a spare hanger from the flyxii official store accessories.

https://www.aliexpress.com/store/1100498203/pages/all-items.html?productGroupId=211587112&spm=a2g0o.store_pc_home.smartGrouping_645504537.211587112&storeId=1100498203&sortType=bestmatch_sort&SearchText=&filterType=

Which hanger? If it's the one I think it is, it's the same one as on my two Carbondas and I have spares. But if I'm wrong, I don't.

...from the photos on Aliex it doesn't look different than regular TA dropouts. Is it reversible 12/15mm threaded insert?

There is no insert. On the right dropout there's just the recess for the bolt that comes with the proprietary axle. Even the tech support people at Robert Axle Project told me they have nothing that will fit.

Cyclocross Frames, Wheels & Components / GR029 thru axle warning.
« on: January 17, 2024, 04:23:31 PM »
I guess the GR029 is considered more of a CX than a gravel frame so I'm posting this warning here.

You may purchase a GR029 from a seller than includes axles, but if you don't, you need the specific axles, particularly the front, that's made for this frame.

Seraph is clear that the price on their website doesn't include axles. That's fine. They're not clear that there's no chance that any other axle that you already have or might buy, will fit that front fork. That's not fine. I'm out weeks waiting for a second order for the axles because I didn't know that I had to have the axles they sell for this frame.

Come on Seraph, be clear...better still, just include them and raise the price $34. Better STILL, lose the proprietary bolt-on front axle and put a threaded insert into the fork.

If I knew then what I know now, I'd have ordered the axles...or some other frame, more likely.

Don't make the mistake I did and order a GR029 without buying the axles.
