Component Deals & Selection / Re: RYET carbon MTB wheels/hubs
« on: August 08, 2024, 03:36:11 PM »
I also purchased a set of these wheels from the Ryet store on Aliexpress.  When i first received them I did an unboxing video on Youtube.  I should point out that I was impressed by the customer service, the shipping and I genuinly liked the wheels.  The 36T rachet offered great engagement.  When I originally bought the wheels I was running Shimano.  I upgraded to the SRAM Transmission and bought a new XD freehub very seamlessly from the Ryet store.  Again great customer service.

Now lets fast forward.  They are a little over a year old and up till last Friday I haven't had an issue and the wheels are true after 1 1/2 seasons of riding regularly. Probably close to 1000 km's on them.  Please note that I am 200 lb's and ride in an area that is a lot of jagged rocks and root.

On Friday as I was going up a rock face I stood up to add power and the freehub spun on the hub making a grinding noise.  when I tried to ride afterwards the freehub spun on the hub when any power was added.  I  took the freehub apart and cleaned it / reassembled it.  Same issue.  I'm put the Shimano freehub / cassette on and same issure.

I think that the teeth that the ratchet binds to in the hub are worn doown and have failed.

So here is the good part!!!!  I contacted the Ryet store.  They told me the Hub has a one year warrant and all i have to pay is shipping.  Well shipping is $49 US.  I scoffed at that and was told that it is only 1 year and I am past 1 year. I now looked through the listing and they have this posted.

Features:

Tubeless Ready

2-Years Warranty

Ratchet 36T Hub

Pillar Spokes and Nipples

I ordered the new hub as I wanted it shipped ASAP but have now complained that there is a 2 year warranty.  Ryet told me the rims are a2 year warranty. The Hub, freehub and spokes all have a 1 year warranty as they are considered consumable.

Would I buy these wheels again. NO.  I would buy a carbon wheel off of Ali in a heartbeat from Ryet or anyone else but I would lace them to a decent hub,  I think the new hub will fail on me sometime in the not too distant future....

I'm interested in knowing if the DNM rear shock is any good. I see the Lexon Riot has it as an option with a remote cable lock out.

Let us know if it is good or not......

How does the Tideace FM-XC191 stack up to the bikes mentioned in this thread?  I see that the seller has a great promotion on it right now.

Thanks guys. Something to think about.

I too have watched the Pink bike Downcountry videos and as such have stroked the Canyon Liv off my list.

It seems like the Rocky mountain Element and the Trek Top Fuel were the clear winners on Pink Bike. (The Trek choice may be scrutinized by some as the sponsor of Pink Bike is Bontrager.) Never the less Trek does make a quality product.

If any of you are up on geometry do you know off hand which bikes have a similar geometry to either the top fuel or the Element. I do get that the Element has to position that adjust.

Looking forward to reading the replies.

All,

My current Mountain Bike is a early 2000's hardtail Devinci. I've been mostly road and gravel riding the past few years. I'm now looking to build a new full suspension XC bike. Looking for max 120 mm travel front and back. Something light enough to do a couple of xc races or 8 hour races with.

I keep hearing the term new geometry. I understand how bike have evolved but not sure I am up on all the nuances with XC mountain bike geometry.

Can someone explain which bikes on Aliexpress have new geometry?

I was thinking of the following bikes. The Lexon Riot 10 , The Trifox MFM 100 or the Carbonda FM 936.

Looking forward to some feedback.

Thanks  Mark

One more question reference fork offset.

Which fork offset would be best for this bike in size medium 44 or 51?

Thanks in advance for the anticipated reply....

Other than a few grams what the difference between the light and super light frame?

I'm 5'9" and 200 lb's. I don't care if the super light frame is 200 grams lighter if it isn't as strong.

Pardon if this question had been asked before. I did query to see if it was answered and didn't find anything.

Thanks in advance for any answer....
