The OP said they didn't want to cable an integrated headset, This would still fall into that category but yes this allows you to choose your Bar stem to be just about whatever and not be limited to only an integrated stem/ handbar stem combo.

Absolutely, and thanks. As you say, for this build I'm needing something with no integration. I dont want to have to remove cables or hoses to change any bearings.

I see; thanks for the clarification, I'm wiser now!

Thanks again all, food for thought.

Ultramic; thanks for your comment on options. Perhaps I misunderstood you, but it seems to me that a substantial number of frames are designed solely for integrated systems, and lack any downtube or other ports. My Ican road frame is a case in point: integrated and nothing else.

hence my question.

Hi all, hope life is good.

I'm in the market for a good non-integrated gravel frame; carbon if possible. Various reasons but I really want to be able to choose my own cockpit, and I've fallen out of love with routing integrated headsets.

I'd also want to be able to run a regular seatpost, any of the standard widths will do the job.

Has anyone seen this unicorn in the wild?

TIA

thanks. Contact was:

I'll try 'service' as you suggest and see if Sherry is still around. Also, thanks for noting the whatsapp, somehow I failed to spot that.

Thanks both; I'm located in the UK.

Replies on webchat on email so far seem to always come from "Perry".

Hey all, hope all is good with you. I have an odd situation, wondered if anyone has a suggestion for moving forward.

A local bike shop started building their own brand 3 or so years ago. To do this, they bought Ican Aero road frames with their own logos added, and added group sets and wheels from the likes of Shimano. All very nice bikes with quality frames and good customisation, and also helping the LBS etc. Win/win.

My partner bought one when they launched; I bought one last year. Both were built on versions of Ican's aero road frames. No problems with either so far.

But the complication I've encountered is: the bike shop ceased trading in autumn last year due to cash flow problems, and I'd now like to buy a spacer set for my A22-based bike- just to raise the bars a shade, nothing dramatic. I can add these myself- if I can get them.

And it turns out that I can't, because each time I approach Ican, they want my order number. Which I dont have- the bike shop were their customer, not I. Whenever I try and get them to understand this, via web chat or email, we get so far and then comms on the Ican side just....dries up. This is now at about the 6 month point.

I've now got a bit worried about this; what if I need a new seat post, bars, seat clamp, etc? They're all custom. I can't get Ican to understand this somehow.

Does anyone have any ideas of how I can approach this differently to get access to parts if I need them?

many thanks

Hi all, hope all is good.

I'm thinking about picking up a Lexon "GRV120" gravel suspension fork. 40/50mm of travel, 700c, air suspension. Only thing is: I can't find any reviews.

I dont suppose anyone on here would have seen or used one...?

thanks

Nice one. I'm getting on fine with mine, so far. As you say, a little heavier than 105 but in my book not that far out. Best of luck!

Good to know the company making efforts on warranty which traditionally has been assumed as non existent for goods from China. Glad it is working out.

Good news.

This is the way. To corroborate, I was struggling with MTB style brakes for quite some time. Started with super budget Tektros, then to TRP Slate and finally to Shimano XT. After bleeding each of these for may be 6-7 times back to back, I couldn’t get the bite that I wanted. Just mushy mess. And then finally this tutorial helped - a technique called bubble bleed:

https://m.pinkbike.com/news/tech-spotlight-5-minute-bubble-bleed-2014.html

5 minutes and voila, my brakes feel so good. Don’t forget to take the lever off of handlebar and tap them with a rubber mallet. And of course the bleed port at the highest position possible. Then rotate the lever without spilling the oil (if there is oil in the cup). This was the only way I could get that last holdout air from the reservoir. When it worked I almost felt silly.

My usual go-to, but for me anyway this worked ok on the front but no joy on the rear.

Has anyone any idea what the 'air' port is used for as yet?

Isn't it possible to slacken the shifting tension by an adjuster bolt? I'm sure Trace Velo pointed that out on YT.

I'd use the hose type 1st ment for the caliper.  So if the calipers were designed for bh90 first try those. If you don't like how they feel or the calipers don't move correctly install bh59 hoses.

They're the same as 105. I know this as I swapped the 105 shifters and brakes for the L-Twoo models, and keep the 105 hoses, barbs and olives.

No. I never do that.

Another (shorter) ride yesterday, 10 miles or so, including walking through some shallow puddles. Worked, stayed dry.
