haha, recognised the beautiful paintjob, thought u took inspiration from somewhere. turns out i already follow you on IG :D

i guess with "adhesion promoter" you mean primer, right?

Here's a photo and video of one of my paint jobs: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/V-t9kH_zGyU

The frame is a Winspace SLC 2.0 and stem is S-Works SL. The frame started out life in the Superlight Black colorway, this was the process:
Frame:
- Sand to bare carbon
- Transparent adhesion promoter with a faint silver sparkle
- Candy Black from Specialist Paints
- White fade base is Dolomite from Montana Cans
- Snow White Pearl from Specialist Paints over the Montana Dolomite
- Clear intercoat/Wet sand
- Decals are painted on with Ford Champagne Gold
- 2k clear coat/Wet sand
- More 2k clear coat
- Wet sand until smooth
- Cut and polish with orbital buffer

Fork:
- Sand to bare carbon
- Adhesion promoter
- Montana Shock Black
- Alcohol ink job with Tim Holtz alcohol inks and 99 iso
- 2k clear (lots of it due to the alcohol ink texture)/Wet sand until smooth
- Montana Dolomite white base/Specialist Paints Snow White Pearl
- 2k clear/wet sand/cut and buff

Will post a couple more paint jobs when I get a chance.  :)

FYI, I asked for a quote and they told me that they have an exclusive deal with a German brand, so they won't sell any frames to individual customers in Germany. Too bad, this frame looks awesome.

i guess parapera will update their lineup soon :D

Component Deals & Selection / DT SWISS DICUT STYLE HUBS
« on: October 15, 2024, 04:05:27 PM »
Hey there!

i'm looking for hubs similar to the dt swiss dicut hubs. roval does something similar on their rapide clx II wheels.

Basically i'm looking for hubs that integrate the spoke heads in a clean way, similar to the pictures.

I've used a seatpost cover bought from Aliexpress. The one supplied by Velobuild is longer in the back, not so nice to see...

Would you mind sharing the link?

I'm really proud to show you my latest build:

Frame: Velobuild 268 size 54, color: Ice break red fade to black
Bar/stem: Velobuild integrated 110/420 mm
Saddle: RXL Carbon saddle
Groupset: Shimano Ultegra Di2 R8170, 50/34 - 11-30. 172,5 mm
Wheels: Farsport Feder 45 mm 28 mm external
Tyres: Continental Ultra Sport III 700x28 mm
Tubes: RideNow TPU 36g

Weight 7,3 kg with Garmin support and bottle cages, w/o pedals.  8)

I am very happy with the result, considering that this is my first assembly of a bicycle with an electronic groupset and hydraulic brakes. I didn't have any particular problems during assembly, apart from a little worry when cutting the brake lines to length.
I covered 120+ km over the weekend and everything went smoothly: the bike responds very well to stress and is stiffer than my VB 168.

do you use the seatpost cover from another bike or did velobuild finally update theirs?

I'm a huge fan of the Rose Xlite as well! Rose is definitely buying OEM frames.
And i think it's https://www.speedercycling.com/Carbon-Integrated-Road-Disc-Frameset-SC-R55D-_p429.html
When you put them side by side, in fact, pretty evident that the Speeder 55D IS the rose xlite. Right?
That might well be my next road bike. With 50mm wide AF rims & carbon spokes, carbon cranks, could be a very light build for my fat ass.
Speeder has a very strong reputation and OEMs for very legit operators. For example, https://frameworkbicycles.com/ sources cockpits & forks from Speeder.

nah, look at the headtube - the r55d has a hourglass-ish shaped one. but i agree, it's sexy af!

You can look it up. Rose themself says that they let the carbon and alloy frames be made in China (speeder could it be) and than imported back to Germay. Only the assembly and R&D are in Germany.

yes, they use chinese manufacturers, but certainly no "off the shelf" frames

Can you put some pictures from the non drive side, i want to see hidden thruaxle

how would you put that bike on the trainer?

thru axle is "only" hidden on the fork (drive side)

what size frame is this?

I built my SC-R55D last week.  In this configuration it comes in 7.05kg.  I could easily shave more grams off, but I am happy with the weight for now.  This morning was my first work out and the bike felt good under me.

Component Deals & Selection / Re: UDH direct mount hanger
« on: September 18, 2024, 02:08:25 PM »
I'm curious would a UDH direct mount hanger actually be more durable from falls and bumps compared to other direct mount hangers?

for bumps from the front yes, since udh is designed to rotate, for everything else i doubt it. but i think udh hangers will be more accessible to buy than the ones used on chiner bikes

What OP is looking for is a direct mount hanger (so to replace the top link that you'd see on a Shimano derailleur) that is made for bikes that use a UDH.

Silca make such a product (see the one for Shimano):
https://silca.cc/products/udh-derailleur-hanger

I looked for a cheaper alternative a little while ago on AliExpress but couldn't find one.

i've found one last night: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007725054515.html

but out of the 3 options i'd still go with the one linked in my first post on this topic since i'm not willing to pay the silca premium
