Component Deals & Selection / Re: Speeder Cycle thoughts?

I ordered the SC-R52D (with handlebars) a month or so ago. Shipped but not arrived yet so can't comment on the quality. Communication with Justin from Speeder was quick and clear though.

@Yunglord - how much did you pay for the wheels? How are the chosen hubs vs. DT Swiss, mostly picked DT Swiss because they seem fairly standard.

@Dark17 how much did you pay for the Yishun wheels?

Shopping around takes more time when you have to contact the sellers for quotes, but I guess that's part of the fun :)

Hi!

I'm planning on buying the Speeder SC-R52D for a new build (https://www.speedercycling.com/Carbon-Road-Disc-Frameset-SC-R52D-_p412.html). Eventually I'm going to want to buy a pair of carbon wheels for the bike (only have rim-brake bikes atm) so thought I'd ask Speeder about their wheels and save on shipping. I'm looking for all-round wheels, around 40-45mm deep. Don't need carbon spokes, I'd rather they be a bit more serviceable. Got the following quote from speeder:
Quote
SC-28WHD45TL-SLP: US$870/set
SC-28WHD45TL: US$850/set

Built with EXP DT240 hubs and Sapim CX-Ray spokes.
Links to the wheels: https://www.speedercycling.com/28mm-Wide-45mm-Super-Light-Pattern-Carbon-Road-Disc-Tubeless-Clincher-Wheelset-SC-28WHD45TL-SLP-_p384.html and https://www.speedercycling.com/28mm-Wide-45mm-Filament-Wound-Carbon-Road-Disc-Tubeless-Clincher-Wheelset-SC-28WHD45TL-_p328.html

Does anyone have experiences with Speeder wheels? And are these good prices? Should I be looking at some other brand? E.g.

Any comments appreciated!

Fwiw, also asked about https://www.speedercycling.com/21mm-Internal-Wide-Carbon-Road-Disc-Asym-Hooked-Wheelset_p391.html

45mm rims + DT350 hubs + Sapim CX-Ray spokes: US$690/set
45mm rims + DT240 hubs + Sapim CX-Ray spokes: US$820/set

Thanks. Will check if the seller can handle it.

Have had to pay VAT etc. for stuff I've ordered from the UK. But everything from aliexpress (mostly smaller stuff) has gone through directly, even after the new import regulation. And yeah, at least in the past things were marked down a lot. If the seller can't handle it I guess I'll just have to try and see

Hi, I'm considering ordering a frame from Speeder (SC-R52D). I got quoted $954 for the whole thing (although the quote was for the wrong frame, SC-R49D) and wondering about how much I need to add for Customs/VAT. I'm in Finland and I assume things are a bit different depending on the country but at least some more general questions:
  • When ordering to other Finland or other European I assume you more or less always have to pay customs?
  • Do you pay customs on the full price of the frame? Or does the seller mark some lower price on the package?
  • Other experiences around this. Things to do to minimize the amount of hassle / the amount you need to pay :)

Thanks for the suggestions! I've looked at the LC-017 but agreed that the geometry is a bit weird. I'm 178cm and size M/510 for the Look and Colnago and the larger sizes for look a bit more reasonable so it could work.

The Speeder looks interesting, hadn't looked at them before. Seems like a reputable brand from what I can tell?

Will reach out to Yishun, Carbonda and Speeder

Hey, new to the forum, been lurking for a while and planning to do a build. However, am a bit overwhelmed with all the alternatives out there.

I'm looking for an all-around bike with a racy geometry. Something similar to e.g.

I've looked at some of the frames from Yishun (R1058-D/R068-D), Lightcarbon (LCR0X-D), and Carbonda (CFR 1056). What do you recommend? Any other manufacturers I should be looking at?
