26er & 27.5 (650b) / Inexpensive 26" Carbon wheels for Kids bike
« on: April 04, 2024, 09:53:09 AM »
I just finished a 26" bike build for my 10 year old daughter, which ended up sightly below 10 kgs.  I'd like to bring down the weight a little bit, as I am planning to do some multi-day bike tours with her this summer.

I used a cheap, used Fulcrum wheel set, which is quite heavy at 1.800g.

Compared to 700C road bike wheel sets, there aren't a lot of 26" carbon wheels options around, especially at the lower end of the price spectrum.

Are there any 26" carbon disc wheels with a quick release option available at around $300?

PS: That's the frame I used: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000735177339.html

what width tyres do you like to run?

I usually run something around 26-28mm.

prob get them for 800 shipped with a dt350 and whatever sapim cx spokes you want and sapim nips. maybe cx supers for a lighter wheel if that's what you're after.

I checked https://www.farsports.com/ and saw their C3 wheels (1295g) for 1,200g. I guess you were talking about some other wheel set by that brand?

My bike club is doing a trip to the French Alps this summer, including visits to some epic climbs like Alpe d'Huez.

I'm running Winspace Hyper D68 wheels at the moment, which come in at slightly over 1.500g. Would you go for a lighter set of wheels for these climbs, and if so, what wheel set at around $1000 would you suggest.

Thanks.

There aren't many performance oriented frames with these dimensions. Most will be endurance with such a high stack
What reach you looking for? Guessing 400+

Yes, reach around 410 would be nice, but longer stem should work, too.

Thanks for the pointer to the Yishun R068-D frame. This should work for this rider. How much did you pay for yours?

(My apologies if this has been discussed ad nauseam).

I'm looking for a modern carbon road frame for a 193cm tall rider (6ft 3), who I'd usually suggest a 60/61cm frame, with a stack height in the 615 mm ballpark. Rider is new to road cycling, so the geometry shouldn't be too aggressive.

So far I've only seen the the TanTan/Seraph TT-X34. Are there any other Chinese companies offering frames that big?

Thanks.

Do you have a link to this frame you could share? I'm looking for a frame for a 193cm tall rider (6ft 3), and this looks like a good option.

Seems there aren't many modern frames (through axle, internal routing, disc brakes) available for taller riders (stack ~405, reach ~610). besides the TanTan X-34.
