Honestly I dont think u can fit 35 into the 017. I have gp5000 32 and there is not much clearance left next to the bottom bracket. I can try to measure one of these days

What is the rim's inner width? And how much clearance do you have?
Thanks in advance!

FSA no69 headset system.

Allows you to run the cables through the plastic headset cover, through the bearings, and into the headtube. Intended to be ran with a separate handlebar and stem combo. For mechanical shifting groupsets I would not use any other system.

Ran this setup on my Velobuild 177 last year

Thanks a lot, I'll keep it in mind.
The Light Carbon cockpit allows also to run the cables outside of the stem directly to the headset and I was thinking about a similar solution or even to drill the plastic cover if nothing else works.

Edit: I realized that with the cockpit it would not be possible to use such a cover with holes since the cockpit base already covers the whole steering tube.

I don't own these particular frames, but I do have a Lightcarbon gravel and a VB-268. Contrary to what some might believe, the VB frame is of noticeably higher quality in every aspect. However, I wouldn't recommend building it with a mechanical groupset, especially if you're using an integrated cockpit. It's possible, but it can be a major hassle. You'll likely end up with less precise shifting and other issues like tight or unbalanced steering.

Thanks for your feedback.
The reason why I would go for mech. shifting is that I´m totally happy with that and I already have most of the components to build a new bike.
Did you experienced this difficulties yourself?
Even with an electronic group the brakes lines would be there and I´m not sure how big the difference would be adding the shifters cables which are not so stiff as compression-free mechanical brakes sleeves.

Okay okay... A little spoiler.

But more really only after assembly.
Bottom bracket and wheels are still on the way  :D

A bit late to the party, but I´m looking with interest at the same frame.
How did you define and agree the painting scheme?
Thanks

P.S. I´m still reading this long thread...

Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Velobuild vs Lightcarbon?
« on: May 13, 2025, 10:33:20 PM »
Hello everyone,

Does anyone have extensive experience with any of these frames, or better with both?

https://www.velobuildmall.com/products/2023-vb-r-177-super-light-carbon-fiber-road-frame-disc-version-hidden-cables

https://www.lightcarbon.com/lightcarbon-super-light-disc-brake-road-carbon-frameset-with-integrated-handlebar_p240.html

The Velobuild is quite a bit cheaper, has a round seatpost, which I would prefer and a BB86 bottom braket instead of T47.

I just wonder about the build quality and the easiness to build a bike (mech. Ultegra group with hydr. brakes)

Thanks in advance.

105 mechanical (hydraulic)
Full internal cable routing
Full build was a breeze (well keep in mind 4 cables in the hb has their challenges, but by far the it was the easiest hb to work with for that.

I think the only real problem this frame has is that rear thruaxle which is annoying to fix whenever u need to remove the rear wheel.

That sounds nice.
Why do you say that the rear axle is annoying to remove?

Ultimate has almost the same geometry as lcr017 in size 58. I know coz I have one for myself. But if you want the higher stack u mean you need to look to another options or add spacers. I run 25mm and it's still good looking

Thanks, it looks like an interesting option.
I don´t think I´d need or want an higher stack.
Which groupset did you use and how easy was the building?
Thanks again.

That's my bike, 11,000km and counting. I love it. It's fast, comfortable (32C at the back and a lot of seat post exposed, your mileage may vary, idk). Alisa is easy to deal with by email. in 58, stack 596, reach 401, head tube 180. Mine is M.
Clears 32C easily, my rear tyre measures over 34mm, and there's plenty of space.
I dont directly recommend it anymore, because there are newer frames out there, but then again, i havent seen anything that would make me want to upgrade.

Never heard of Rinasclta, agree the logo is atrocious, and airwolf is on my black list of frame sellers. Interesting frame though, wasn't aware of it.
Hadnt seen the Carbonda 1136 either. I just looked at https://chinertown.com/index.php/topic,4178.0.html. It looks aero like a tank and the frame looks like a gravel bike, yet it only clears 32C? Very weird.

The VB177 is about the same age, if not older than my frame, and whether you really clear 32C has been debated on the thread a lot.

A few months ago, i thought the speeder 55 was very interesting, but didn't check if the geometry matches exactly. Also, it costs more. But i think it looks nice, and presumably, it's made with fancier carbon, in a fancier way. Does it matter? Realistically, probably not. What i can say is i built 2 LTK268, both were flawless, especially when it comes to installing the BB. Can't say the same of Winow, for eg, (now also on my black list) and generally, even though i hate aligning disc brakes, working on these 2 268 always went smooth, for which i'm very grateful.

Most of my riding is on the flat, and the bike is very happy at 37-42kmh, more with a tail wind. Like it's nice, you feel your friends on slower rigs starting to struggle, while mine just slips through the air. It's not just the frame, it's the package, but i guess my point is
1. i dont ride on the flat at 25kmh, bike reviewers often say that aero bikes aren't meant to go slow, they feel nice when they go fast. I'm not a bike reviewer, idk,
2. it will not slow you down if you have the legs to ride at 40kmh
3. matt damon.
It's also very capable in the mountains, much nicer to ride than my supersix himod rim that weighs 6kg, i must sell that bike.

I really like that bike :D And it's cheap!

thanks for all the info, I'll look into it.
the "TRACTOR" stickers are a nice touch :-)

Hello,

The Rinasclta Granite in L size looks perfect for your needs  ;)
https://rinascltabike.com/product/granite-aero-disc-road-frame-with-bar/
The same by Airwolf is the YFR066

And with a 27.2mm seatpost and good reputation, there is the Carbonda 1136 (with longer steam for the reach)
https://carbonda.com/road/cfr-1136-sl.html

Regards

Thanks a lot.
They are all interesting.
Except for the silly name "Rinasclta".
"Rinascita" (with two "i"s) means "new birth" in Italian, but with the l it is unspeakable and looks much like a typo :-)

Velobuild 177 is a good option

Thanks. At first glance it looks really interesting.

As a reference I´d use the Canyon Ultimate.
Desired sizes: stack around 600 and reach around 400mm or something less, top tube some 580 to 600mm, head tube around 180mm.
The frameset should be compatible with DI2 and possibly have a BB86 bottom bracket.
12x100 and 12x142 thru axle and preferably use a round 27mm seat post.
I´m open to an integrated cockpit as long as I can pick "stem length" and width independently.
A choice of colours would be nice, but not first priority.
Very important to be are the build quality and the reliability.
It doesn´t have to be the absolute lightweight.
*32mm tire clearance is a must*.
I´ve seen Winspace C5 and T1550, but especially in the first case the largest size would be barely enough and the head tube is quite short with the C5 (165mm in size XL, in the T1550 is a bit longer) not necessarily a deal breaker but less-than-ideal.

I´m *NOT* interested to fakes and replicas.

Suggestions would be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone,

I´d like to know how long these hubs can be expected to last, even in wet conditions, what is the delivery status (do they need some more grease anywhere?) and how high would be the effort to replace the bearings.
The alternative I have would be the DT Swiss 350 hubs.

Thanks a lot in advance

P.S.
I also posted the same topic in another spot of this forum not knowing where it´d better belong.
In case feel free to remove one.
