Its not about the external cabling its about the geometry. The V1 and V2 Aethos are very different bikes.

Could you elaborate on this? I don't really understand geometry.
From bikeinsights and geometrygeeks it seems like the only difference is 15mm higher stack in the Aethos 2 with the exact same reach?

Oh, it's CAD717=USD520 shipped to Canada lmfao.
Checked a few of the others and everything is about USD100 cheaper to Canada. Hmm.

edit:
Oh, Alibaba is a lot cheaper too. Wonder what the catch is.

Have a bunch of components to do a build for a family member (Shimano 105/GRX-ish hydraulic groupset, decent takeoff TA wheelset with tubeless 40mm tires).
Thinking about a cheap frameset <USD500 all-in. In a pretty bad bike market area, so that's about how much I'd end up paying for the frame parts of 'decent' bikes (Diverge, Checkpoint, Topstone etc) in 100mi radius to part out.

Aluminum:
Twitter G2Max $343.85
Twitter C6
Seaboard CT1 $409
Sodce $491

Steel:
TQIQT $404
Dark Rock $430

Carbon:
Airwolf, BXT, Meinier in the <$600 range, then a lot of SPCycle and Velobuildmall options around $650.
SPCycle R088 $596, G068 $562
Flyxii $512

Seems very difficult to go <$700 with carbon and still be reliable so I'm not getting my hopes up.

Any options I missed?

Also, I recall there was someone who had a spreadsheet of Chinese bike frames with geometries, features, prices etc. Appreciate it if I get a link.

edit: adding people's suggestions as they come
Should also account for ~$50-60 from coupons

Is the Sensah 14 speed cassette available? I've heard it's something special that's fits on an HG free hub but requires UDH. Couldn't find it on Taobao

They don't make their own cassettes, it's mostly Sunshine OEM. There's a Sunshine 日辉 14 speed cassette.

Since you're in Canada, Taobao direct is probably cheaper than AliExpress by a good bit, and also a lot more brands available.

Holy shit after the mess that's Sensah, LTWOO has a much better B2C storefront.

Notes:
9 speed and below uses cheaper caliper set at RMB 350 separately.
10 speed and above caliper sets are RMB 361.
Pro version and ER_ electronic shifters do NOT use thumb levers.
Battery BT-R9001 RMB 280
FD cable CB-R9001-F RMB 85
RD cable CB-R9001-R RMB 95

ERX seems like a CF version of ER9. You can add another RMB 200 to get a big CF jockey cage+wheel with ERX.

Sensah's lineup has always been confusing and annoying to parse through, so I spent quite some time parsing through Taobao for all the choices and prices. Just road/gravel of course, MTB groupsets always seems like a "deore and done, dummy" situation.

Not using the AliExpress prices due to how variable they are for destination countries, tariffs etc. Personally I use Taobao+Cainiao to the US which is the cheapest but also much more setup.

Using "official" Sensah-affliated Taobao stores, not bike shops reselling small parts.

Shifters, mechanical brakes, hydraulic brakes, and with calipers, which are all IIIPRO calipers priced at RMB168 each.
All shifters come with cables, brake hoses. If you buy with calipers they even throw in a bleed kit.

The ECS electronic groupset is the only one where the brake calipers are Sensah-branded - maybe a white label.
I only included sets where it kind of made sense; a lot of sets include SenicX cranksets with Sunshine cassette and some other chain.
No sets for 2x11 Team Pro since they all just include a Shimano 105 derailleur LMAO.

I'll do one for LTWOO if there's interest.

edit: adding LTWOO

You bought it through their website? Might as well initiate a chargeback then.
It's funny because gmail, instagram, facebook, and whatsapp are all technically blocked in China, and there's been a VPN crackdown this year too.
Maybe you can try ordering through a dealer if one is listed in your country, if the price difference isn't too high.

I bought some unbranded BH90 type hose and it had a woven layer too.

Any recs for rear pannier rack and fenders? Something full-coverage like SKS Longboards.

Component Deals & Selection / Re: Best hydro mech 11 speed group

I've been on the exact same hunt. You don't actually have many options for hydraulic brake 2x11.

Sensah Team Pro is kind of the only Chinese option. USD197 shifters, USD226 with brakes.

There's L-Twoo but reviews seem to be pretty bad.

Now people say you can get Shimano 105 used for ~200. I've been on the lookout and that's the price for sketchy looking used ones. I copped a pair of relatively unscratched RS685 (the ultegra generation between 6800 and 8000) for USD110, but the hood rubber is old and there's mineral oil spillage everywhere.

You'd probably want NOS, which runs about USD260 with brakes. That's still pretty good value compared to Sensah, especially if you take into account reselling in the future.

Metal Frames / Re: Yet another Seaboard GR-02 build
« on: August 06, 2024, 09:39:09 PM »
Really nice build! I'm doing something very similar, except with a Kona Rove steel frame.
With the SLX cassette, do you think there's enough chain to run 34/50 on the front?

A little bit of searching for 2x11 hydraulic shifters+brakes for a build:
all in USD
Sensah Team Pro HRD shifters: $197
Sensah Team Pro HRD shifters+brakes: $226 (my impression is that basically all the hydraulic brakes on market are very much good enough)
105 shifters+brakes: $200 used if lucky, $280 NOS

You can somewhat go cheaper going for RS505 and RS685, which are a gen before R7020. Heard the brake compatibility becomes weird tho.

edit: Microshift Centos shifters: $168, for campy thumb lever lovers.

Can't recommend buying fluids on Ali. Temp differences, handling etc make it VERY likely to spill/crack.
Just get automobile stuff on sale locally.
