Thanks carbon_dude. I agree with you, I've been looking at the dimensions more closely and I also think that 120mm will mess up the XC geometry.

Component Deals & Selection / 100mm or 120mm fork

Hi, I'm looking at a pretty good deal on a Fox 120mm fork.
When I bought my frame (FR-207, 26") never saw a spec about what was the recommended fork travel. As I used a 100mm fork I already had, I didn't put that much attention to it, but now I'm considering the longer fork. Do you have any idea if the chiner frames were designed for 100mm or 120mm would work?

Also, what are your thoughts about moving from 100 to 120?

Thanks 7, I also bought one from them to carry as a spare. Both look of very good quality, the ebay one even looks a little bit more solid.
I already had a derailleurhanger one that took a big hit and bent, it broke when I tried to make it straight. It did it's job though. I didn't have it long enough to see how better it stayed without bending with normal use.

Yeah, get in contact with him, he was very easy to work with. If he is directed to this forum and sees what your needs are and that it's profitable for him, he might be interested.

Hi there, to follow this topic up, I just bought a hanger from this guy at ebay that makes several CNC hangers. I had bought one from him in the past for another bike and I really liked the quality of his products. I found that he makes hanger 96 which is a mirror of 58 (the one I use), so asked him if he could work a 58 out and he did with no extra cost, quality is the same as before, it fit my frame perfectly and definitely looks more solid than the original and even the wheels manufacturing one. Oh! and they're cheaper.
So I thought of sharing my positive ebay experience in case you need a hanger, you might want to take a look at these ones:

Hi, I just bought a Jagwire MTN Pro kit, it’s my first time using something different than the standard shimano steel cable + prelubed housing. I bought the kit expecting better performance for longer. I hadn’t paid that much attention to the whole kit until reading this so I didn’t know there is a separate piece of liner besides the housing. My frame has internal cable routing and from reading the instructions on the kit, seems to me that the liner is for those sections of external routing in between cable stops where there’s no housing. So, the liner shouldn’t be used in internal routing, isn’t it?

Same thing for me, no flats in years, and living in Baja surrounded by thorny plants go figure. Besides the "no flats" advantage, there's the possibility of runnig UST tires at less pressure that non UST, even by 10psi less, which for me, has helped in getting more grip. Weight wise UST wasn't reducing any from my bike and maybe even adding, tires are heavy compared to normal, so that's why I'm trying tubeless ready now.

Hi, here's an article explaining UST patent. I've been using Mavic Crossmax ST with UST tires for years, I'm about to install a pair of tubeless ready Kendas (non UST), I'll see how they work.

What I've got from reading about this topic when searching about tubeless ready, is that they don't have the UST bead, maybe some sort of modification to help it seat better, but the main thing is that they are sealant compatible, as they do need it to seal (opposite to UST), so rubber don't get ruined by the chemicals in the mix, which sometimes happens (I've always used sealant whith UST tires with no problems, but I've heard of bad stories too).

Thanks for your responses, I now it has to bend but it seems that it bends by just even looking at it (a little of sarcasm here).
Heat treating it might help, I’ll give it a try with a bent one first.

Component Deals & Selection / Chiner derailleur hanger

Hi there,
I would like to know if anyone is having the same problem and if you have any suggestions to fix this issue.
I've been very happy with my frame, no problems at all with it but it's the derailleur hanger that is literally driving me crazy. My frame is a flyii 26" FR-207 (I'm attaching a picture of the hanger). First of all I think the aluminum on the chiner hanger is too soft, it bends very easily that even when just moving the bike around if the derailleur touches anything or just by leaning on it the hanger bends so it's never straight and I'm always having problems getting the derailleur to be aligned or shift right. I already used a 58 wheels manufacturing hanger, it is a little stiffer but same, it's already bent a little. I imagine if having the hanger attached to the outside of the frame would give it a little more support, there are actually frames that use basically the same hanger on the opposite side but it's like a mirror of mine. Any way, have you had this same problem?

They aren't for me. Here's mine and I'm thinking about putting together a new one. For me (maybe opening a can of worms here), is not worth it to go 27.5 for just half an inch of whatever that difference makes and options still way limited compared to 26". Maybe the only advantage (for me) is that if everybody is moving to 27.5, 26" forks, wheels and tires will go on sale.

I bought my frame from www.x-goods.com (which seems to be the same as www.flyxii.com). Headset included. Chatting over skype I got a 15dlls discount and they sent me 3 spare derailleur hangers for free (plus the one that came attached to the frame). Also, as I didn't want to run the brake hose internally, I asked for the hose things that attach to the frame and they also sent those for free. The shipment arrived in two weeks to the US.

Thanks Sitar, I think we get the best of both worlds, terrain and weather wise. On the Baja side there’s a lot of not-developed terrain to explore, on the Cal side there’s lots of miles of marked and mapped trails. Even though in the summer it gets pretty hot here (100-110F even in the mountains), we also get snow and rain (what makes things even more fun sometimes) and plenty of good weather in the fall, winter and spring.
I already spotted a couple of very interesting threads, I’ll check them out this evening and leave my comments (saw that “are 26” dead?” thread  ;) ).
