Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Re: ICAN Flyee Frameset

HI, I wanted to buy Vanyar, but the frame is rather very heavy...I need 59 size. I was considering FL1 Ican, never have I found the review. The frame looks very nice. I believe that it is also lighter than FLyee

Component Deals & Selection / Re: Riro 24mm axle carbon crankset

There's a reason that Shimano 24mm axles are made of steel.  They are just not strong enough.  Dub axles at 29mm can be aluminum but of course they are much bigger and therefore stronger.

Hambini did a video on this and argued that it can be done if the wall
Thickness is thick enough and the aluminium grain structure is consistent enough. However you still have the problem of steel bearings wearing on the axle as it happens with all aluminium crank spindles over time. And then I wonder just how much of a weight advantage there’s left if you built an aluminium crank spindle sturdy enough in 24mm. I think there’s also a reason why until now every aluminium spindle was oversized, BB30 or DUB. Same reason why aluminium bike frames are oversized when compared to steel. Stiffness to weight qualities of aluminium just work better that way.

29er / First post, first build!

I feel like I've come to the buy-from-China party late. I just ordered my first frame from Airwolf—a YFM-059—along with their integrated handlebars and super-light MTB wheels with some 240 hubs. I have some SIDs and XX1 to put on it, and I'm excited about my first Chinese frame.

Am I crazy about selling a few of the current OEMs and funding more builds from China?

Component Deals & Selection / Carbon mtb crankset with 24mm axle
« Last post by ldavies on December 02, 2024, 05:39:25 PM »
Hi all,
Is there anything equivalent to the Elilee x310 crankset (with 24mm titanium spindle) in the mtb world?  I bought the elilee for a road bike and am very happy with it and would like something similar for an xc mtb.  I am not interested in any aluminum 24mm spindle and 29mm spindle is too big.
Thx,  Lloyd

Will drag2zero's work for you?

Dissapointed to hear it'll be that long - doing a 500k during the Xmas-New Year's break and was hoping to have these and dialed in before then.

Component Deals & Selection / Re: SPD-SL shoes
« Last post by Pedaldancer on December 02, 2024, 04:56:33 PM »
im not sure how much you wanna skimp on shoes.

but my reason going aliEx is because Santic actually makes lockless cycling shoe for flat pedal that looks like road cycling shoe, and stiff outsole+ no arch flex n still comfortable to walk in.
i tried some other random brand lockless shoe, not close to Santic at all in term of stiffness.

maybe check out Santic shoes for spd, maybe theres some tickle your fancy n budget

Santic is in fact really nice.
But: it's not super low in price (reasonable i would say)
Looking around in sales deals it is possible to get a similar price for a shoe, that you can easily send back if it doesn't fit.

I had some good fitting references at home, so I could give it a try by comparing the inner sole and the outer appearance of the toe box. But it's definitely a risk if you couldn't already try them.

(I just bought Northwave very recently...)

Component Deals & Selection / Re: Magene P505 PES Base Spider Powermeter
« Last post by Tilmanstoa5ty on December 02, 2024, 04:40:21 PM »
I installed the PES P505 Powermeter cranks today on my new Velobuild and took them for a first test ride on the trainer. First of all i gotta say they work flawless with the 105 Di2 derailleur.
I did a ramp test on zwift so i could compare the powermeter numbers with the numbers from the smart trainer and they were spot on. I really hope i won't get any issues with the crank coming loose as i heard about that a lot but apart from that i am really happy so far. I paid 269 us dollar on aliexpress (including chainrings) with some discount but had to pay 55€ import taxes + handling fee when they arrived at my door in germany. I think on some occasions you can get them for a little cheaper.
