180mm LTwoo caliper adapter?
« on: October 16, 2024, 09:37:06 PM »
So, Ltwoo uses a weirdo spacing on their calipers to avoid getting sued by Shimano and their groups (eGR and eRX) have come with 140/160 adapters for both front and back.

I would *love* to put a 180mm on the front of my gravel bike, as a big boy and with a view towards hauling bikepacking shit, the extra stopping power is very nice.

Anyone been able to find a way to do a 180mm on the front?

Do I just buy Zrace and move on?

Looking for a practical solution myself.
Peak Torque's 180mm adaptor should work, you'd use his adaptor AND a ltwoo adaptor (probably the 140mm one). Issue is, it's very expensive for what it is.
There's another website in the US selling a similar thing, also very expensive (easy to find on google from memory). Website indeed focused on gravel / bikepacking things.
I have found a 10$ adaptor for the rear, so i'm running 180mm at the rear, which is helpful, as it takes longer for the disc to overheat and scream.
The fork solution is proving elusive. An adaptor for regular shimano brakes (they're standard flat mount) is available for 10-15 eur, but it doesnt work with ltwoo. i tried :(
Fast on the flat. And nowhere else.

Swap out the fork!

I'm currently running this gravel fork with a 180mm front rotor. The 160mm adapter places the positioning of the brake caliper in the 180mm position and with a 140mm adapter will put it at the 160mm position. I'm even using a pair of cheap 180/160 rotors and difference in braking is so much better with a 180mm rotor. For gravel I'm never going back to 160mm up front.

This is a wild solution lol, love it.

Likely won't go that route, as I'd almost rather just switch to calipers that can accommodate the adapter.

What's interesting is aliexpress has a set of ltwoo brakes that seemingly come with a 180 adapter made for ltwoo: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805337286344.html

So it does seem they exist...
