Aluminium Gravel Frame
« on: September 27, 2020, 12:13:05 AM »
Hi All,

Looking for sources for an Aluminium Gravel Frame. Most seem to offer carbon nowadays.
Ideally with thrus, flat mount disc, tire size up to ~44mm with tapered carbon fork option and unfinished/painted . Seems to be really hard to find. Any pointers?

Thanks,
Rick

Similar question here.

Does anyone know of any good aluminium frames that don't have a large minimum-order-quantity?

Buying branded alu frames seems pointless, as they cost almost the same as unbranded carbon frames.

There are basically no chinese aluminium frames for retail customers, besides some track/fixie frames and very few (mostly outdated) MTB frames.
My guess is that they aren't very economic for a small company respectively in relatively small quantities.

Some frames that might be an option

I think I'd be down for the Koozer, if I had the urge to build a gravel bike. Really liking the look of it.

Just an fyi.
Koozer & Tsunami sells the same frame. I don't know if they are the same company or related to each other but the frames are the same. Could be just rebranded. I've seen over a dozen builts of these brands locally (gravel bikes mostly) and so far, I've yet to hear any complains.

Tsunami has internal cables, but besides that they really look the same. I guess it's coming from the same manufactory.

Sonder sells the Camino AL frame for $360 USD. It's not that much cheaper than an unbranded carbon frame, although it has massive tire clearance and a progressive geometry.

I was using the Camino as a price guide to compare a possible Chinese build. Camino WAS a great deal...but prices have seem to have shot up drastically. Camino frame is now $650. Its renewed my search for cheap alu frame or might send me the carbon route.
