11.11 Sale Predictions?

Wondering if folks are expecting any good Ali 11.11 sale deals this year?

I will likely hold off on some purchases in hopes there will be some pretty good deals.  Specifically I'm eyeing up Ultegra Di2 (12 spd) groups.. does anybody remember the prices on these being lower during 11.11 last year?

I **always** wait for 11/11 if I am to purchase anything big like a wheelset or groupset and when there is no rush or upcoming build.

I don't remember the prices for that group particularly but what I bought was lower in price + coupons were stacked on top and I landed some pretty sweet deals. I bought XT m8120 brakeset, 8100 groupset, Elitewheels wheelset and many, many small items to hit the coupon threshold.

This time I am eyeing 105 R7100 12 speed mechanical groupset after missing out some excellent deals earlier this year. That particular group has gone up in price since and has stuck there. Oh and a CSC gravel wheelset is in my cart too. Besides these, regular assortment of small goodies, fishbone cable housing, rotors, brake pads, inner cables, bar tapes, chain rings, titanium screws etc etc.

I find the 11.11 sale probably the best time to buy a frameset or wheelset. Though in order to trigger some of the bigger coupon deals, it's a good idea to buy a few lower priced items if you're slightly under.

Thanks all, glad to hear it makes sense to wait for 11.11.  If nothing else, prices likely won't be higher 'after' 11.11 than they are now.

Is there a good primer on this?  I know the big coupons run out.  When does everything go live - is there a time of day to get this going to capture the best deals?  I'd like to grab a groupset and want to hit it properly and not feel like I'm trying to get Taylor Swift tickets.

Yeah, I sometimes feel like an idiot trying all day for a 100 times to get a coupon to work. But most of the time, in the end, they work.
It also pays off to look for different versions of the coupon codes online. That sometimes does the trick.

Careful with these wheels, I am havings issues

I have an old-ish CSC rim brake wheelset that has around 2.5k miles on it and going strong. Its not light but it wasn't expensive either. What problems are you having?

I am not able to get a seal around the valve stem, tried 3 different ones. On my attempt on the second wheel I left the  o ring on the outside, below the valve nut, air leaked from tire side to rim side and pressurized the rim on the spoke side, making a sound that I can only assimilate to delamination.

Good to know. I have air leakage problem on ICAN Aero that only started after about 3 years. Not sure if the valve hole widened. I rolled some Teflon tape on the valve and that seems to have stopped the leak but it's delicate. It only works after I fiddle with it. If I rock the valve back and forth it leaks air.

Taylor swift is made on AliExpress? That explains so much.
I hope the full steel cassettes will be back to their price or lower during 11.11, because the 11s 11-34 used to be 80 EUR and I haven't been able to find it below 100-105 in the last couple of weeks.

Going by previous years, the sale will start 8 a.m. GMT (midnight PDT); stores will advertise 11.11 prices a few days in advance, however. Expect things to be quirky - for example, when trying to apply a coupon, the site may tell you that it doesn't recognize the coupon... only for the coupon to work on final check-out anyway. One way to deal with the chaos is to create yourself a shopping list - know what you want to buy from which store at what price and only go through with it if you see real savings.

The other tip that has come in handy over last few sales - they add coupons quantities as days pass. If you miss out on collecting it, you will eventually get them during the sale but not on last couple of days.

Secondly, they also add entirely new coupon codes. E.g. pre-sale would advertise coupons like $10,20,30,40,50,80,100. During actual sale, they might add a $65 coupon too.
