Magene Heart rate Monitor (H303 and H603)
« on: November 23, 2024, 11:43:25 AM »
My 5 year old Wahoo Heart rate monitor is becoming more and more inconsistent, so I need a new one.

The price of the new Wahoo one is simply to high.. So I‘m looking at one from Magene. Also after I’m very pleased with my P505.

Do anyone have a Magene Heart rate monitor and can give me some feedback? Also what is the difference between H303 and H603?!

Thank you.

I've got one, not sure which model but it's pretty much the same as the garmin bands. If anything, more convenient to put on since the strap closes by snapping onto the pod. I think it's a no-brainer

I have a h64 and a h303, they have been flawless. My garmin went to shit after less use.

They just have different straps

Then a H303 it is! I can’t really find the difference in the description of that and the H603 other than the price..

I've bought two H303. First one worked fine, but got lost in a hotel. Second one started burning through batteries in days after a month or so of usage (typically a CR2032 kept me going on Wahoo or Garmin for 4months). As replacement bough a Coospo from amazon. Now testing XOSS rechargeable one.

I had a magene h64 and i liked it while it lasted. After a little more than a year i had to change the battery and after the battery change it went crazy. It started showing insanely high numbers even while i was sitting on the couch. When i removed it from my chest and reapplied it went back to normal for a few minutes and then crazy again. I don't know if it was directly related to the battery change but i did a google search and saw a few guys with the same observations that it shows this behaviour after roughly a year.

I now bought a "COOSPO H808S" gonna see how well that one will hold up.

The only downside I’ve found with Magene HRMs is that they don’t connect as readily to my Wahoo. I’ve found that I need to put on the monitor after my Wahoo is turned on, and if I go out of range I need to take off the HRM for a moment then put it back on to reconnect. No major drama but something that’s tripped me up once or twice.

i have 1 magene h64 that continues to consume the batteries but it shows the heart rate well.
I solved it by removing the battery every time after training.

After that, I bought magene h303 but after a little time it started to mark too high numbers.
I wrote to the seller and they replaced it but the new one also had the same problem.

I found this link. I will try to follow the instructions to fix them

I’ve ordered the h603 now. But due to Black week I got it with a big discount from a local webshop. I will report back when I’ve tried it.

I have gone through lots of HRMs over the years, Garmin Dual Band, Wahoo Tickr, Magene H303, but all seem to have the same problem. They work really well on the original battery but once you change it, the waterproofing degrades and then they start playing up.

So the Xoss X2Pro is a revelation - its rechargeable! Work really well, has LED lights, audible warnings, have used it every day for 3 months with a few 5 hour days on the bike in there - no drop outs and totally reliable results.
