I'm looking for a replacement for my specialized recon shoes. They are wearing out. I don't want to spend 300 on shoes that I know I will destroy. Anything new/good/recommended?

I'm looking for a replacement for my specialized recon shoes. They are wearing out. I don't want to spend 300 on shoes that I know I will destroy. Anything new/good/recommended?

 I have been using Giro Republic shoes for a few years. I commute every day. It's road for 15 miles and 5 miles of off road. excellent for walking and work well for wide platform SPD pedals I have. I also used them for touring with no issues wearing them 10+ hours a day with a lot of walking. Somewhat like saddles shoes are personal - I have wide ish feet. For road shoes I have other brands for road shoes that fit wide as well ie Shimano and Bontrager.
