Iplay 29er Carbon Frame - which one? IP-057, IP-056, IP-29, IP-033?

Hello after 15 years I am back to building my next bike ... "Highest Quality Chinese Carbon" was never a reality then(many things have changed).

From what I see Iplay have a good reputation in quality/control and customer service.

The IP-057 seems to have many successful builds so far from what I have been able to read.  I believe this is a $350usd+ frame.

When we look at this range of frames what do we see?  lighter/new models (IP-256 = sub20/21lbs. bike builds) to older heavier production builds and designs (IP-029 - 20+lbs bike builds)?

From a quick review it seems we go to lighter/replaceable dropouts/fully internal routing versions/wider rear axe. 
I have heard of IP-256 frame breaks and this is lightest frame produced by them so far if I am correct. However IP-057 has reported back 8000KM+ with no issues from many buyers.

Can someone shed some light on any other spec differences?  Headtubes/BBs/seatpost/tube length ratios?

You may want to add the CS-041 to your list.  It is comparable to the 256 in weight with improved stiffness.

I think the 256 does have more issues than the 056/057, but that said, there are plenty of them out there without any issue.  My 256 is a year old and has 1000's of miles on it.  Perhaps it is more due to rider weight? 

What type of geometry do you prefer?  How do bikes you've had int he past compare to these frames?  That is how I ultimately chose my frame size and all.

More weight over the front wheel geometry.  I am short 5' 6" and lightish (140)

I have built road racing, urban fitness (like cyclo) steel bikes, and commuter; this would be more weekend workout in bush XC trail and single track (enter citizen/senior style XC races).  So nothing highly aggressive and highly twitchy .. places I ride are flatter with sections of up or down that can be by passed if needed.

With your weight, I honestly wouldn't worry about it. I'd seriously look at the 041 or 256. But, the 057 is more of a proven frame. Pretty much zero issues have been reported on it, so that is a pretty big positive and I could understand why that would be attractive to potential buyers trying to make sense of all the various options.

Interesting. But what is the rear hub spacing at 12x148? I thought 12x142 was the standard? Does it have internal routing?

Silly wabbit, that was last year. We can't have a hub standard that lasts for more than a year, can we?

Sounds like the new "Boost 148" standard, which requires new hubs and frames:

That Workswell is a really interesting bike - drive side elevated chainstay for clearance and surprisingly short 430mm chainstays for a bike that gives clearance for 3" tires. Compare that to the 440mm of the 057/256 frames. Loooong top tube, as well. Combine that with the 148mm standard, and if you're willing to build up at least a new rear wheel, looks like it could be the base for a nice bike.

I emailed the company. Waiting on a response. Boy would I love to build a 29+ off this bad boy. Anyone have any updates on this or know any more info? Can't find any affordable 29+ Boost 148 frames anywhere, but maybe here...
