Kill the creaks with a headset bearing....
« on: March 07, 2017, 07:15:23 PM »
Just came across this item on aliexpress.  I've bought headset bearings before, but this one is about 40% of the price of the last one I bought.  Also they have all common sizes.

Hope this helps someone out there with a case of the creaks...

My lower headset bearing seized up a couple of months back- had to order a full price set to get it quickly, but I probably should get another set for when these crap out.

When buying the bearing separately, it's not cheaper than buying a complete set.

When I buy the 41.8mm and 52mm bearing, it will costs me (4.03 + 5.33 + 1.57 =) 10.93 USD.
When buying a complete set, it will costs me 9.90 USD ( https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Road-Bike-Headset-1-1-8-1-1-2-Top-Cap-MTB-Tapered-Headset-Spacer-Integrated/32758312564.html ).

I just received the two I ordered after reading your first advice. They look good, and you can't beat that price ! Thanks again.

Got mine today- 7 weeks shipping to the US, so I wouldn't suggest it if your bike is waiting on a headset.

+1

just like hub bearings, bottom bracket bearings(cups), brake pads, mineral oil and tire sealant. And recently I also stocking a chain.
I saved the race of my son last weekend with this stock chain.(he broke his chain in sight of the first round and I could replace the chain (already with correct length) within a minute and he was back on track (25th place) and did a Verstappen and got 3rd.)

Only the brake pads. Looked for the bb, but not yet convinced, read some bad comments about the screw thread. And I don't want to mess up my bb.

Yeah!  Brake pads!  Because I have about 15 guys who I maintain bikes for, I tried the Shimano compatible brake pads.  6 sets for something like $15 USD.  My buddies are happy.

2 of us are running Hope X2s and I just saw those pads as well.  Gonna grab another 6-pack.  Hope I don't get drunk, LOL!
