LCFS 958 build help
« on: August 27, 2020, 02:47:54 PM »
Planning to build a LCFS958, Trail bike.
A few questions from a total newbie.
Is this a easy frame to build out?Any gotchas people encountered?
Does anyone have a part list that would work with it or are willing to help me with? I am looking for a middle of the pack groupset, and suspension components- nothing exotic. Ditto for wheelset- possibly carbon from same company.
I am in the Midwest and a beginner .Will not be doing any aggressive riding at all. Mostly flowy trails.
I understand this is too generic, please be kind

Hey, surprised you haven't gotten a reply. I'm not sure how much help I'll be as I'm just getting back into bikes but it's not too difficult. You might want to start with a budget to get component selection going in right direction. I've always liked shimano so a 1x12 Deore or SLX group would make for a great first bike. For suspension you could look at lightly used stuff from pinkbike classifieds. And once you get some more specific questions you will probably get more answers. Maybe see if you can find someone on YouTube with the frame and message them to see if they have a parts list?

I don't know what the difference in the frames is, but check out this thread: https://forums.mtbr.com/29er-bikes/light-carbon-fs937-downcountry-29er-build-1101497.html

Good luck and don't be too discouraged by the lack of replies. This place can get slow at times and I get the feeling that many of us are looking at these frames but haven't built one yet so can't give more detailed info but that's just an impression I get from reading here for a while.

Received the LCFS958 frame, still waiting for the right hardware for the shock-mount. Branded it and put on frame protection on crucial places.

Heard rumors of people having problems that the suspension eats bearing. Anyone that can tell me more about that. Problems and solutions?

The frame in size L is 2.8 kg.

Testing the parts together before I start mounting the Magura brakes, SRAM crankset and groupset.

My first ordered dropperpost was to high with 170 mm travel, so I sent it back and I have ordered a new one with 125 mm travel.

I have also ordered a new Stem Ø35mm to fit the carbon handlebar I ordered from Light Carbon. The stem I have is for  Ø31,8mm.

But so far I am very happy with how well build the frame is. The finish is good and everything fits nice in place.

New bikes are beautiful  :D
You should have the front brake hose inside the fork.
