Dengfu R12 name brand model? and experience?
« on: May 03, 2021, 03:42:03 PM »
Hi im wondering if anyone owns a dengfu r12 disc. I know one review said it had bad brake alignment and melody said they fixed it. I have one in the mail currently, stuck in customs.

Also, does anyone know what its supposed to replicate in terms of name brand? the fm098 is only like 2 degrees more slack or something like that and besides the seat clamp its identical to the 2013 venge. Is there an equivalent for the r12? people suggested canyon, too far off. some suggested the merida reacto, also too far off. open to any ideas and ill check geometry geeks! if anyone has a premium subscription to geometrygeeks itll definitely narrow it down

I own one. Finished it earlier this year, I only did a bit over 200 km yet, but I'm super happy with it.

I had no issues with brake alignment.

Geometry-wise it's pretty close to Trek Madone/Emonda.

good. im glad to hear that, reassured you made me.

how stiff and comfortable is it? I have an fm098 and it makes a brick look flimsy

I don't really have a comparison, my bike before was a early-mid 90s carbon frame with aluminium lugs and rear end.
But it's definitely more comfortable than that, and as far as I can judge it's stiff enough.

would you point it towards an endurance geometry/stiffness or much more race oriented? i took my fm098 for its maiden voyage today and you feel every freaking pebble.

If you feel every pebble, then your tire pressure is probably too high. A bike frame doesn't actually flex that much. Most of the comfort comes from the tires, seat post, and saddle flex.

i have vittoria g2.0's, both running tubes (ones tubeless but i fucked it up.... long story)
both are at around 110-120 psi when the max is 127 for tubeless, im assuming if i run clincher style they naturally have a max in the 140's?

edit: theyre 25mm and im roughly 105 kgs.

I'd recommend just lowering your pressure bit by bit to see how it feels. You should feel the increase in rolling resistance when you go too low, but before that, there should be a noticable increase in comfort.

For what it's worth, I run 45-60psi in my 28mm road tires, and 30-35psi in wider gravel tires (tubeless in both cases). But I live in Belgium, so very little smooth tarmac here.

hm. i run 45-55 in my 38 sk's. the 32's are maybe 60.

you run awfully low pressures, i have to run higher because i weigh more. i guess i havent found my sweet spot yet?

Just about to pull the trigger on an R12 myself and had a good look to see what it's most like.
I do think the geometry is pretty close to a Canyon Aeroad CF SLX

For instance, geometry for the 61cm I was looking at:

                    R12         Aeroad
Stack:           612         606
Reach:          413         419
Seat Tube:     580         593
Head Tube:    205         193
Wheel Base:  1019       1025
