ICAN P17(Flybike FM1266)
« on: March 28, 2022, 09:04:52 PM »
Hello.
I recently received the 2022 catalog from ICAN.

I am interested in the frame called P17.

I think it's probably FLYBIKE's FM1266, which is good news since FLYBIKE is BtoB and cannot be bought privately.

It would definitely be nice to try out Flybike’s take on VPP.

That said, this definitely doesn’t much resemble the final Carbonda 1003 which is presumably still the Flybike FM1266.

As it's ICAN and my experience with them has been very good I am super interested in that, I wonder will this new frame fit a coil though, seems like everyone has forgotten about being able to fit coils

I don't think they forgot, fitting a coil in the lower link style layout of vpp is a challenge even for western high budged designers and engineer teams. Probably just not a big priority.

I have ordered from Ican and have had great success with the P9. Great bike, durable etc. The P17 looks oddly similar to the group buy bike we all have had rear triangle issues with. The top tube is very long, it's stretched at the head tube. I would like to know what warranty they provide with this frame specifically. And it also looks like they don't have any actually built yet...

Wonder if this is different than the BXT version with the threaded bottom bracket.

The chain stays are very long (445 mm)! In the "original", they are 435 mm.

That’s odd (assuming the stated numbers are correct, since we’ve seen them reported wrong before from multiple vendors including ICAN). I wonder if there’s a specific reason for it.

In the catalog, there is no frame picture and the design is same once shown on flybikes website.

The same thing happened with 1003 from Carbonda. Went from VPP to single pivot.
I think we aren't getting VPP yet. My guess is that it is too hard right now, so they went with single pivot this time around. As with the S2 & S5 frames, this is currently being sold from Carbonda in a size medium. They are working out issues with the small and large sizes.

Hope I am wrong and this is a new frame!

Road A40 is new right?

ICAN A40 appears to be the same frame as Cinelli Pressure, Engine11 Mach1, Atom 6 Strada, Rollingstone Hider & Raceline Hider.
