Ryet wheelset?

Hey all,

These 'seem' like a good deal..

30mm external, 38mm depth.

Anybody have any thoughts, experience with these?  I would probably use them for road tires (@ 28mm) and hope they still meet 105% rule (though may not depending on the tire I guess).

I'm really I guess on the hunt for 32mm-34mm external, reasonable depth (more like 40-50mm).. I don't care that much about weight.

Cheers,

I think my only reservations with Ryet is that they seem to be affiliated with Lexon, and I've had poor experiences with them.  But, I do have a few friends that have these same Ryet gravel wheels, and they have not had any issues with them.  They all got them early/mid this summer, so they probably have less than a 1000 miles on them.

I am currently building a wheelset with ryet hubs, they see, pretty decent to me. Have not been able to ride them yet

Any updates on the wheels from friends?

I think I heard one of the big youtube reviewers hint at being not pleased with their Ryet wheels. I think it was GC performance guy if I'm not mistaken.

So far they're holding up good. They don't ride road much so probably not a whole lot of miles, but they hammer real fast group rides on crappy Michigan roads when they do.

Tons of reviews showing exploded wheels, would avoid. I'm sure there are good examples, but clearly the QC isnt right. Not worth the risk IMO.

Care to link a few? or is it just one review from cade media?

I have these wheels specifically (RYET Gravel), mine are pretty good. I rode BWR Canada which had VERY rough mountain bike sections with these wheels, and they held up fine.

I know one wherein his wheelset was destroyed by just a tire lever while changing tires

They are all over the place on AliEx reviews, these are a selection. There are lots of positive reviews too, but with this many exploded wheels who knows how many have failed past the review time limit.

Not touching Ryet.

Google for any brand with the words "exploded rim" and you'll find some.
Personally I've seen Bontrager and Roval similarly exploded wheels, as well as some of the lightbicycle ones I helped to buy.
It happens, it is the way carbon fails. The most important is the warranty you get when this happens.
All the brand above honor it.
Looking forward to see how Ryet is reacting to that.

I get that, but the amount of bad reviews on AliX is too high percentile wise relative to the amount sold. Particularly keeping in mind that there is a time limit for leaving a review.

And in most cases the resolution mentioned is that Ryet ask for postage payment on a replacement wheel.

Its the classic case with chiner parts of QC, warranty, support etc, but I don't see the point when you can get Elitewheels etc for not much more.
