Water bottle cage

Can anyone recommend a water bottle cage that functions well and doesn’t look hideous?

They are light, and I never lost a bottle, on bumpy trails.
But the carbon makes your bottles get black.

But I find the bottles to be harder to put and get

I have probably 10 years or so on either of these. I use the side load ones on frames with minimal bottle clearance. I've purchased both styles from various vendors with no issues and both hold the bottles securely.

I have probably 10 years or so on either of these...

I had these before and found the little bottom piece quite fragile.
It snapped on both bikes I did install it.
I must be too brutal with the bottles, if you had them for 10+ years

After a 10 year hiatus from riding, I got back into it in 2011. Grabbed a couple of the lightweight ones shortly thereafter so somewhere in the 10 year range, not sure exactly. Only one I broke was my fault as there wasn’t enough room in the frame to get the bottle out properly. Repaired with some G-Flex epoxy and some fiberglass and it’s on my winter bike now. That’s when I started getting the side load ones for certain bikes. Between my kids, wife, and myself, I’ve bought and sold just a few. But I don’t think any of them have over 1,500 miles of use.

At the beginning they were firm, but then after a while they started to get loose.
Maybe I was unlucky, as there are many builders and got a poor model.

For side load cages, I love the Lezyne Flow SL - pretty cheap, looks good, and most importantly has a very good hold on bottles. I've had no issues retaining full 750ml bottles over some really rough terrain on my gravel and mountain bikes.

I have a pair exactly as you describe, and I have a pair from Deemount. The latter ones are  really firm. I made 800km with my 909 with them attached and they were always keeping my bottle secure. I did even a race with them and usually I am a very careful rider but in that race i just focused on being fast 

The Deemount branding can be removed with a bit of acetone.

Ditto, been using these arundel clones for close to a decade.  They hold the bottles REALLY well and have been 100% reliable.

On the clones make sure you get the ones that have the ridge on the foot that the bottle sits on - it increase the strength tremendously.

Yes, I'm running a pair of them on my Spcycle M-05, not dropped a bottle yet.  Recommended.
