so can anyone substantiate the 40T on 55mm with 0 offset? or is this just total BS? and probaly 36T doesn't even work?

I have a 0mm offset ring on the way, once fitted it will probably give a good idea.

You could take a look at the shimano FC-M8120-1 crankset.

I'm not sure what this suggestion is for? It's a standard 55mm chainline, but with wide(ish) q-factor.  The frame is listed as 40T but clearly has much less clearance.

Just found a video: https://youtu.be/cOxW6rk9C4Q?t=1060
The guy uses a standard SLX 7100 crankset (52 chainline) with 0mm 36T, but he said it was 38T in the video. He also mentioned that it certainly has room for 40T.

Looks great! I am on the hunt for the same fork and just ordered a riro carbon crankset for it.
I am in love with that bike, makes me wonder why I stopped riding for 25y! I have been out with my son and by myself almost on a weekly basis since the build, did my first 30k ride with it last weekend (time is at a premium with kids so I’ve mostly been doing punchy 1h rides)

I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine!
