I'm not an experienced builder. If I buy the version that comes with a bottom bracket, I should be good to go, correct? I've never used DUB and usually stick with Shimano. But the bottom bracket will fit in all threaded bottom bracket frames correct? Then I will be good for the cranks to go in the provided bottom bracket. I was gonna put it in either my Knolly Fugitive or my my BXT Hightower clone. They are both threaded so I should be good right? Or am I missing something? Is it the right width? Will I need spacers? Thanks guys

As long as your BB is threaded you'll be good to go as it's 99% BSA (English threaded) as most modern bikes are. If your BB is press-fit, it will not work and you'll need a press-fit DUB BB. You probably have a 73mm shell (68 is usually on road bikes) so run your BB spacers accordingly.

Thank you for the response. I think I'll try a set of these cranks.

I got the 165mm 'titanium' cranks along with the BB and matching chainring. They look great and the finish is really nice. I've done a few rides and no issues so far.

Do you know what is the chainline on the cranks?

Do you know what is the chainline on the cranks?

If I remember they are the 3mm offset (i.e.boost).

I get confused, is boost 52 or 55 chainline?

I get confused, is boost 52 or 55 chainline?

Boost is 52mm chainline (3mm offset)

A lot of modern frames that have a UDH have boost and a 55mm chainline (0mm offset).

Wolf tooth has a pretty handy guide to chainlines on their webpage as well (there is a table halfway down the page).
https://www.wolftoothcomponents.com/products/direct-mount-chainrings-for-sram-cranks?srsltid=AfmBOoriLY6NTdsP6xWm-agGHPAyWjNq_bWk_Am9fS1rh3oInzgTIGE2

But honestly from my experience getting the chainline wrong is only really going to cause issues with either chainring clearance (contact with the frame) or higher chain wear (replacing chains more often).

Also just as a word of advice, you may also want to buy a bottom bracket tool to install the cranks or have someone install the cranks for you. I’m not sure what bb you currently have, but the evosid bb that comes in the kit uses the Shimano MTB pattern.

Got the 2X version of these with the bottom bracket and threw them on my Surly. They look great and 2X is a treat.

I bought these cranks a few weeks ago and will be installing them soon. Does anyone know what tool is meant to fit the dust caps / self-extracting caps? I contacted the seller on AliExpress and they were unhelpful.

It is about 20mm in maximal diameter and has 12 splines. I initially thought it was one of the XTR ones but after buying an inexpensive combination XTR/DUB socket realised they are slightly larger and 11-splined. Hopefully it is a standard fitting and not something unique to this crank. A pin wrench works in there but scuffed up the anodizing - would much prefer something that just fits and can't slip.

A standard hex wrench - I think it was 8mm, is what is needed to install the arms. If you want to remove the self-extracting caps a set of needle-nose pliers can remove them. Just put the tip of pliers and hold the handles open to wedge the tips in the caps. A slight turn will loosen the caps without a huge amount of pressure. The caps are left hand threaded - so Righty Loosey. I have removed and reinstalled the cap on one arm and had no issues with damaging the finish.

Yep, I know the cranks themselves attach using a hex wrench, it was the caps I was talking about. I don't think I have any needle-nose pliers fine enough to fit in there, hence the pin wrench. When I was fiddling around with loosely putting them together when they first arrived the drive side threads got damaged (I think there was some swarf in the threads of the spindle) and I had to remove the cap on that side to get the bolt out so that I could clean it up. I was worried that a few thousand km down the track I'll have a similar issue when I take them off to service my BB etc., the caps will have managed to clog themselves up with dirt or cold weld themselves to the spindle or similar, and I might need more force than pliers or my pin wrench can exert to get them out.

Thus if it was a standard fitting for some other more popular brand of crank I figured I'd just buy the right tool off AliExpress for a few dollars and be done with it. But if it is a proprietary thing obviously that won't be possible. Does anyone else recognise the spline pattern?

The crank I have have the same shape and is a 16mm hex bit.
