New Dangerholm inspired Scott Scale GR RC - Chinertown build?

My brother and I did something similar. Mine is the pinkish one with drop bars, his is the white one with flat bars.
Not the greatest picture, but it's the only one I have of my brother's flat bar one. It was taken at the end of a 200km MTB/gravel race that turned out to be a mudfest.

We used the Airwolf YFM026 with the Airwolf fork. The Airwolf fork actually has a 480mm A-C length, which steepens the HTA a bit more, and also steepens the STA a small amount. The steep HTA is fine for gravel riding/racing (and beachracing), and we both run the saddle all the way forward on the rails with a zero setback seatpost.

Regarding the chainring size. The white bike has a 42-tooth ring on a standard boost crankset. It's the biggest you can fit without altering the chainline.

So that's 52mm boost with +3 offset fits a 42T?  Presumably 46T will fit with 0mm offset?  If I could fit a 44T oval without altering the chainline, that would be ideal.

I'm hoping the new Spark Gravel RC will have generous chainring clearance, which will push the copy cats to do the same.

I had to look this up, so bear with me here. I don't really know a lot about all the different chainlines and offsets.

It's a boost frameset, with a PF30 bottom bracket. This came included with a standard drive-side spacer we used.
Then it's a boost crankset from Ali. The Senicx FM2 with DUB-spindle. So a standard boost crankset I suppose?
The spider is a Xcadey power meter (the 3-bolt SRAM version, gen2). This is the information according to their website:

"The power meter is designed for a boost chainline and can be adjusted to a standard chainline using a 3mm spacer."

We didn't use any extra spacers so the spider is a +3mm offset, and mounted a Deckas 104BCD chainring, this doesn't have any additional offset.

So if I'm right this just equates to boost with a +3mm offset? So you could fit a bigger chainring if you don't have the +3mm offset in the chainring or spider.

This weekend I can take some pictures of the clearance of the chainrings on both bikes.

I run a L Carbon FM936, and a 58cm Cervelo Aspero. I want to build a gravel Scott scale, but don’t know if I should go XL or l. The Scale XL has the same reach as the FM936. The L is 3cm shorter.

I run a L Carbon FM936, and a 58cm Cervelo Aspero. I want to build a gravel Scott scale, but don’t know if I should go XL or l. The Scale XL has the same reach as the FM936. The L is 3cm shorter.

The XL will have absolutely massive reach for a gravel drop bar bike ... unless you're enormous, or very high on the ape index, I doubt you'd be able to cope with it.

We are both 184cm (6ft), so pretty tall. My road bike is a 56cm, but has a long 120mm stem. MTB is a Large Cannondale Scalpel.
The Airwolf is a Large, but I considered a medium for a long time because of the added reach of the drop bars. Eventually, I did decide to go for a Large, mainly because of the seat tube length. The medium would have A LOT of seatpost sticking out.

I then used https://bike-stats.de/en/ to determine stem length, mainly checking against my road bike fit. Settled on a 70mm stem, and looked out for the shortest reach handlebars I could find. In the end, the position is a bit longer, but higher than my road bike. Took about 5 rides to get used to.

Thanks for the advice. I’m 185cm. Probably best stick with a large. I’m uncertain about going for a drop bar or not. I might stick with narrow flat and TT bars.

Nextie AGX45 gravel rims laced onto boost hubs (done by Nextie). The rims have a 30mm internal width, so I run 2.35" MTB-tires on them for gravel riding.

My bike was mainly inspired by the beachracing guys here in Belgium en The Netherlands but it makes for a great gravel bike in summer aswell. And I'm actually gonna race on it next winter. All the specialist beachracing bikes have very deep (for aero, but that's debatable, it mainly looks good imo) and wide (so you can run the widest slick posible for good flotation on the sand) wheelsets.

This bikeshop, that specializes in beachracing, sells the Airwolf YFM026 under their own name, with their own brand or 9th Wave branded deep and wide wheels.

Full list of parts from my build is attached. Build it for under 2000 euros. But with a LTWoo groupset that isn't performing the greatest. Might have to switch it out for a Shimano GRX set.
