I don't know where you read that. Certainly not in my post. I didn't write one word about the US.
With "other options" I meant something like icTrainer, as in an individual selling his own software and asking for a very reasonable licence fee in return (rather than wanting all my data). And honestly, a training software is all I need. I don't care about flashy graphics, digital social rides and online racing.

Just cancelled zwift over the weekend, every month I see the subscription fee go out and I think about how I haven't used it

Ah, sorry, my bad! I assumed you were comparing it to Zwift, as it's the gold standard of virtual cycling. Then yes, I agree with you. It can make sense to give your attention & money to other players for specific reasons.
It's just that most people virtue signal from a position of abysmal ignorance of history and reality, it's very irritating.
Fast on the flat. And nowhere else.

I think part of the point is that MyWhoosh is directly funded by the UAE government, unlike Zwift.
