Magene P505 Power Meter parts compatibility check
« on: October 03, 2024, 09:04:28 PM »
Hi all,

Would you guys be so good as to review my parts selection here for upgrading my Cruzbike Q45?

https://cruzbike.com/products/q45

I got a current gen one of these bikes which has a 42t chainring and a 155mm crankset with integrated spider.

In order to execute this upgrade, I can see that I'll need new cranks that don't have an integrated spider.

Altogether, I've put these 3 items in a shopping cart and need to ask you guys if you see any problems with it.

hold it.
What bottom bracket do you plan to use?
That craze recumbent is using squaretapper bb

+ + +
edit: that crankset seemed to come with bb, but didnt really specify bb width and if that bb comes with spacer.
im not familiar with squaretaper conversion, but be prepared just in case you need spacers

Yep, the stock bottom bracket is:

Bottom Bracket   Square Taper 68mm*113mm

Will that not work?

I ordered the crank only. Had no idea that the existing bottom bracket might not be compatible with the crankset.

I'll buy a new bottom bracket if needed, but don't know how to select the right one at least not yet without researching and getting more guidance.

Will this bottom bracket work?

Any reason I should choose a different one or is there a consensus on what product is best practice right now?

That one would fit, but you'd be better off choosung one with full steel bearings. I have one and it's been good. Usually these generic chinese parts have lower quality bearings and if they have a full ceramic one at that price, you can be sure it's made like shit.

the crankarms you listed above is indeed 24mm spindle, so that Dino bb may work.
for your case the frame bb is far away from the ground, so its not prone to dirt.
Im not familiar with that Dino bb, but on aliEx, Ztto and Kactus bb (even normal steel ver berarings) are tested and been quality to price.

you can search squaretaper to hollowtech conversdion vids on youtube.
this one even show where the spacer should go if your frame need it
