Sram Universal Brake Mount

It's not necessarily a beautiful design. But it's a very sensible idea from an engineering point of view, I think.
And it would eliminate the need for facing brake tabs entirely, which obviously is a common problem particularly with the cheap frames that we like to buy.

i don’t fet the design, or what advantage it might have or IS or postmount (admittedly flat mount is useless and hard to build to). 


anyone see any advantages to srams patent?

I guess the main advantage in theory is that the whole brake assembly will be mounted onto the axle (much like the rotor) and therefore in theory there should be no problems with brake alignment. Obviously you'd still have to have well machined brake tabs, out of aluminium I guess. But that should be doable. + You could probably buy aftermarket replacements if the original parts are not of the desired quality.

The initial design is a little rough but the idea is intriguing, I think. Kind of like UDH for brakes.
