Realistically, I am seeing a total value of closer to $900 for this frame, using the LTK266DSL as a benchmark. It is a similarly "high-end" blend of CF. Basic Ti Thru Axles, like these, are about $85 a set. Shipping costs around $140-$150, and the Ti hardware is likely around $20. It's a good deal, but probably closer to $100-150 discount IMO.
Mondinice, as a brand, has numerous listings on Alibaba. I think they make the Onrii frames? And maybe a few other AliX brands. I don't think I have ever seen any of their molds used by higher-end brands.
The frame itself is a bit of a miss for me. There is nothing new or inventive here, and I am a huge skeptic of the eye test for aero when it comes to deep tubes and think any marginal gain they provide can easily be offset by poorly performing shapes. The only eye test I think correlates well with actual aero performance is examining the bike's head-on and noting the reduction in frontal area. I am biased to low yaws since the testing I have done has always been outside the wind tunnel and until recently without real-time airspeed.
The geometry is fine for an aero bike. Nothing there either; they played it safe with bikes like the S5 or Y1RS. Speaking of those bikes, I would love to see a lower-cost frame set with a bayonet fork, like those, especially if it took a regular stem, like the Incolor Intropy SSR.
I do love how real they are about both the layup and acknowledging that they are on Indiegogo to bring this bike to life because the industry is hard right now.
