replace my old frame?
« on: October 03, 2016, 02:03:49 PM »
first off i am new here, so hi

Ok, I am thinking of replacing my frame on my bmc teamelite te29 xo(higher spec alloy bike) this winter,

I am a mtb racer and I kind of am hard on my bike, so I want something that is strong, what frame would you recommend?

would there be any complications?

and would it be worth it to do this?

Thanks in advance

If you have the money the 041 from Peter, is the most racy, stiff and light.
I will rebuild my 041 next spring(SRAM didn't deliver me the Eagle on time for this season...)

If you have less money the 062 is more twitchy but I love it(my current bike).

Then you have the workhorse 057, I don't know it, it is one of the oldest I think, and praised by its owners.

For a race frame the 256 sits between the 062 and the 041 in stiffness for me.
I broke one hitting a seatstay on a rock(my total fault), and some had an issue at the wishbone of the seatstays.
I have a friend who has one for about 2 years.
He bought another one second hand(well... new from a member here) as a backup and loves it.

If you are knowledgeable about geometries, and know what you like, you can compare them and choose based on that.
Otherwise you will find in this forum any of the frames above have very happy owners.
