Boy was it a fun morning today! It was my first time there and I rode some pretty sick stuff. Even went off a huge drop with 4 feet of vert at the top!
People sometimes ask "Mountain biking in Florida? There are no mountains..." Correct, but there are loads of old phosphate mines, an abandoned attempt to cut a channel through the state back in 1971, and other interesting things that leave us with some pretty sick trails. If you ever make it to Florida, you NEED to hit Alafia State Park! Put it on your biking bucket list for sure!
NOTE: This was my first time ever on these trails. I went in blind on a lot of it and had to depend on watching the guy in front of me to know what features were ahead.
This is the tail end of the Moonscape segment. Loads of ups and downs. At about 0:19 in, you hear me groan. That's because I am deathly afraid of heights, and the shoulders are the trails all but disappear. Also, I wipe out at the end.
This segment is known as Bridges. Fast with some drops and jumps.
Gatorback segment. Some seriously steep climbs. The camera doesn't do it justice
Rabbit Ears - Short but nice section
OAF - A small but fast little downhill. Had to be careful because some of it was bi-directional
