Seems this is one of the few 29er Boost frames that can run 120mm fork without messing up the xc-ish geometry. But my main question: are the rear shock options that fit actually working in unison with the frame design or are they simply a matter of "if it fits, make it work". When Scott sells a frame with a rear shock it's been rigorously tested. Will the FM-058 perform similarly with whatever Monarch XX or Fox Evol?

It appears that the FM058 has been rechristened as the "FM258." There's no difference between the two, and it is still possible to find the product page for the FM058 through a Google search. I sent Hongfu an email asking if the new frame was finally available in size 21", but the Lunar New Year shutdown is in full effect until the 26th of this month.

I see they still offer the 58', and the new one has the barake in the seatstay instead of the chainstay. I have no clue if this is good or bad, given that the rear end has to flex when the suspension moves...

The geometry of FM258 is identical to 2017 FM058, but they changed the top tube to make it a 100% Scott Spark sibling. I like the new shape and if they finally create a 21" version, it may be the one for me. Even though I still don't understand the 2.2 tire clearance. At least make it 2.35"!

According to Tom, whose FM058 build was posted at the top of this page, there's enough room for 2.25" and maybe 2.35" tires on moderately wide rims. I am confident that the FM258 will be offered in size 21", since the Spanish brand Megamo will soon sell it under the name "Track." Size 21" is listed in the geometry chart on their website. I'm still not enthusiastic about the Boost rear axle. The description on Hongfu website might say 142x12, but their Alibaba store states the frame will be Boost.

Boost and fitting a Fox EVOL would make it an option for me. With 120 F34 fork the geometry looks good.

Hong Fu told me they have 29er 142x12, 650b boost and 29er boost. Their site is now updated.

Yep. And I wrote they have a 142x12, a 650 boost and a 29er boost.
But as of this morning the 29er boost is not available until May at earliest.

Is this rear spacing information for the FM258 or FM058?

I want one of these. I think this will be my next build. I'd go with the 29r 142x12 frame. Maybe some time this summer.
