That's correct. No spam on this forum, only useful help. First time we delete these posts, next time we ban.

Wheels- undecided either sram roam 60 or novatech hubs with flow ex rear and wtb kom front

That's a random choice of wheels. Are those the only options?

I've found that with some looking, you can get some OEM DT swiss wheels for relatively cheap. I got some for my daughters bike and she ran them for a year as 26" wheels. Now that she is a bit bigger, I'm re-lacing them to 27.5 rims and reusing everything else. Even the spokes will work as the stock pattern is 3 cross and now going with a 2 cross pattern. Still gonna have $350 into the wheels but they have 350 hubs, XM421 rims, and Competition spokes.

Is this just luck, or rather usual when rebuilding from 26 to 27.5" ?

A little of both. I let my inner geek out when I was looking for some wheels so I knew my options before buying the wheelset.

But for DT wheels, you have a couple of options. Since they have a low profile aluminum rim, you can sometimes find a 30ish mm deep 27.5 carbon rim with the same ERD. Otherwise, you need to change the lacing pattern as 2x calls for shorter spokes vs 3x. In this instance, 28h 350’s use the same length spokes whether its 545 ERD 3x or 564 ERD 2x.

There is also a very good chance that I’ve spent a little too much time using the DT spoke calculator.

Here are some 2012 DT EX1750's. The front is a 240s DBIS 20mm oversize (which can be converted to 15x100 or 9qr) and the rear is a standard 240s hub. Spokes are Aerolite and the rims have an ERD of 540. You would need an ERD of 558ish to make these work with a 2x build.

These rims from Peter would have an ERD of 560 as the spec is measured from the nipple seat not the top of the nipple. With an ERD of 560, the only issue is the right rear spokes would be 2.2mm short. But for $200, you would have 240s hubs and 3/4 of your Aerolite spokes. Just get some CX-Rays from Peter at the time of ordering.

Disclaimer: this may or may not work for the OP, it's just how I figured out how to reuse older DT wheels just for the hubs and spokes. The set I'm having relaced cost me $153 and they were brand new. I figured that price was worth a set of 350 centerlock hubs and Competition spokes.
