LCFS947 - 160mm 4-bar 27+/29

Hi,
So lot of good information here ! i have finaly ordered an L frame and a set of 29 Wheels.
Now i must find all the other pieces.
Question about the fork and geometry : it is written on the data front fork must be 160-170mm. What is it best to buy ?, a 160mm or a 170mm ? it is linked with the choice with rear suspension ?

Either would be fine.  I'm pretty happy with a Mezzer up front at 170 for a bike that does everything.  I wish it was a little quicker to adjust.  I think I'd like it at 160 for longer backcountry rides with steep singletrack climbs and 180 for ski area stuff but 170 seems a nice middle ground.  No wrong answer really.  Just depends on your riding style and choice of set up.  The nice thing about a fork that adjusts without additional parts or expense is you can try them all and see what works better for you.

For those of you that own this bike I am very curious about your sizing and how you feel the bike fits. 

I'm coming from a ~2012 all mountain type bike (150mm/160mm travel) but the geometry seems so different than this bike and for that matter all newer bikes.

Does anyone know of some bikes that are even close to similar to the LCFS947 in regards to geo that I could maybe take a demo on that would be a good frame of reference? Seems like a SC Hightower and Scott Ransom are somewhat close but I hear people say 5mm makes a notable difference in some of these measurements so I'm not sure how to correct for that. Granted everything is a large departure from what I'm riding now.

I feel like trying to compare the geometry I've measured off my bike is not really helping me understand what the bike is going to feel like as its so different, and I want to try to make the best choice I can as this will be a several thousand dollar investment and I'm not sure how well these will resell compared to a name brand if it ends up wrong and i need a different size.

So with that said, here are my measurements. I'm curious to know what yours are and how you find the bike fits and feels for you.

Height (6'4") - 193cm
weight (165lbs) - 75Kg
Wingspan (6'2") - 187cm
Inseam (34.5") - 88cm

Welcome anyone's thoughts or experience with bike sizing or any more resources for me to check out.

For the record, here are the measurements I took on my bike, although I did these with tape measure and an angle app on my phone so unlikely to be dead nutz accurate. Hopefully within 5-10mm

Reach = 457mm
Stack = 625mm
Eff. Top tube = 595mm
BB height = 370mm
Chain stay = 432mm
Head angle = 69deg
Seat angle = 74deg
Seat Tube = 460mm
wheel base = 1130mm

I also measured from BB to top of my seat as 810mm which makes the pedal to ass measurement 985mm when I only have a 880mm inseam? seemed kinda weird but I measured it a few times and its right or pretty close.

I would demo some XL bikes with a similar reach and stack to get a feel for a more modern geometry.  Your measurements seem solidly XL to me and you can fix a few mm here and there with the touch points.  Depending on how you feel with long, low, slack HT, and steep ST you may also be tempted to try a large.  I have a 6'6" friend that rides a large Kona Process 153 and, to be honest, he looks ridiculous but he comes from BMX and likes to throw the bike around.  All about feel.

Yea I definitely think getting on a new geometry bike and a 29" set of wheels will be important. Now to find a cheap demo.

Anyone have a geometrygeeks membership? I put in some bikes I could think of that might be in my local shop, but if you pay for the site you can search by numbers to dial it in more. Seems like there might be a few which are in the ballpark, although each is different in some ways which again, I have no idea how much 10mm of stack, and 5mm of reach are going to change how it feels. gotta find the closest thing to take to the trail

It feels a heck of a lot like a Specialized Enduro, or an Evil Insurgent. Probably more luck finding a Specialized at a store. The S4 or S3 size would be the ones to check out, but neither are exact reach matches.  This bike feels like a "modern" bike. Coming from old-school narrow handlebars and NORBA geometry, it's very different. I had to sit on a few new bikes before I knew I needed and wanted to get into something like this.

I appreciate the feedback. I think is well worth the couple hundred bucks to Demo and get a few rides in on something thats maybe in the ballpark.

I'll see if I can find a specialized Enduro at the LBS S4 seems closest. I think the Scott Ransom and Hightower in XL are pretty close to the XL 947.  Good chance someone might have those as well.

I'm about to order a frame and I was wondering about the specified max chainring of 32t. I want to get an sram eagle groupset, but there seems to be stock issues. Would a 34t also fit or would it touch the frame? Could it be that this spec is because of the chain guide?

What is the longest dropper post a medium frame will handle for an average rider?

Oneup 120mm is working great for me on a medium frame. I'm 172cm tall. It's just low enough to work well, anything with a taller stack height would be a problem for me.

For some reason half of the linkage is turning green on me lol. I noticed it was slightly not black when new, but now it's very green.

The frame looks interesting. But I think a bike which accepted a 150mm dropper would be better for me. Bummer.
