P9 update?

Will the P9 frame ever receive an update? Slacken head angle a bit and steepen seat angle to 2020 standards? I like the basic performance of the bike.

Like most of the open source offerings, the P9 is behind the times. Can you even buy an updated enduro bike with a 66° HTA (assuming you could find one in stock, lol)? Only fits 160 mm brakes and 2.3 tires, acceptable 5 years ago, but out of date today.  That's why we all get so excited for something like the AM831 that matches many of the current trends.

There was a teaser for this LCFS947 enduro-ish frame for a bit. There is a lot I like about how the suspension on the P9 works. But when you have 160mm of front suspension, it would be good to have a 65 degree head angle to get the most out of it.

Bought a p9 frame myself, delivered a few weeks ago. Seems to have plenty of rear tyre clearance, even with 29er wheels. As for 160mm brakes, I've seen plenty of builds with 180r/203f combo.

As for geometry, I'm looking to put a 170mm fork with-1 degree bushings on the shock, should slacken the head angle to somewhere between 64-65 while keeping the seat angle reasonable.

Mine with 160 fork feels slack enough on the front!
I run 180 rear disc, and 29x2.35 hans dampf fit good in the rear, so don't put all the trust on internet words.

I just think if the P9 had geometry that mimics that of the Ripmo they would really have something. You can use offset shock bushings if you want to drop the back end a little. I think you can only get one to go on the top. Difficult to put one on the bottom if I remember correct. And then you have the problem that you slacken the seat angle just as much when you slacken the head angle. This bike can definitely handle 170mm fork. I have that setup with a Rock Shox 170mm. If you slacken the bike that way, you may have to push the seat forward to get a good effective seat angle. Which then shortens reach. So make sure you buy a large enough frame if you go that route.

I've installed 2 offset bushings before, if memory serves right the actual bit doing the offset sits in the eyes of the shock so can't really see an issue, unless it leaves to little clearance for the bottom eye.

Thinking of sticking a 216x63 shock onto it with 29er wheels, what will that so to it geometry wise with a 170mm fork?
