Help me find a hardtail frame with QR skewers?
« on: October 06, 2020, 09:14:28 PM »
I've got a 2012 Trek Wahoo with a lot of upgraded parts but the frame is a bit small for me and the seat tube is 27.2mm so not a lot of dropper post options. I'd like to find a new frame that I could swap everything over to but it looks like a lot of frames I see use through axles. Can someone recommend some options that use QR skewers? Ideally with internal cable routing.

Hi Axis,

when you buy a new from from China, you'll get most of the time a set of QR dropouts and a set of through-axle dropout with a frame. And you can always ask the vendor.
For example, someone mentioned Airwolf yesterday: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32783551474.html?spm=2114.12010612.8148356.47.7ce6129atDPrtP

It comes with QR-dropout, through-axle-dropout, BB, etc.

And on AliExpress you can find a lot of dropper seatposts. I'm using one for two years now and for me it's good enough.

Wouldn't they be QR 141 though and not 135 if its starting with a boost frame?

That's possible but I have yet to see a QR141 generic frame. The Airwolf link is for a non-boost 142 or 135qr frame. The OP is asking about finding a replacement frame for one from 2012 which is pre-boost era. Pretty sure he will need a 135 quick release frame.

I'm sure he'll need a 135 too! I just didn't realized the linked frame was 142 normally.

I like the trifox frame but the headset is so weird to me. Idk why they needed to make it two pieces but it just seems like a bad design to me for some reason.
