Flared gravel drop bars
« on: March 30, 2021, 09:38:22 AM »
Does anyone have any recommendations on flared drop bars? Something similar to the Salsa Cowchipper would be preferred. I'd prefer something from a trusted seller as I'm still hesitant on generic carbon bars.

Drop: > 120mm
Reach: > 80mm
Flare: between 20 and 30 degrees

I did find this one with some decent reviews but I'm not a fan of the Di2 holes. They may be a non-issue but I see them as weak points.

Here's the Salsa Cowchipper for reference:

The flared handlebar CGB01 of Carbonda is great.

@carbonazza: Do you have that bar? I've considered it before, but according to the tech drawing, the clamp area is only 5cm wide, which isn't enough to clamp a computer mount next to the stem. Also, Carbonda lists the reach as 93.8mm on their website vs. 80mm on the drawing, both of which are too large for me.

I have the Carbonda bars.  The clamp point is indeed too small for most computer mounts, the only downside for me.  Otherwise I really like the shape and flare.

This one meets all the criteria except for the flare, it has none. The reach, drop, and price all look good. They also ship the bars in a box rather than wrapping it with foam and tape and sending it on its way.

6 cm I would say.
Did you( and Zilcho ;) ) consider a frontal mount, like this one: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000409237249.html ?
It makes a nicer cockpit and the gopro mount can be used to attach a light.

The reach is 80mm and the drop is 120mm for my 400mm model.

That doesn't seem to support Wahoo?

You can find the corresponding Wahoo interface on Ali.
For instance this one: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001757937782.html
In general they have all 19mm bolts diameter, but better ask the seller.

The Wahoo interface is almost identical to the Garmin one, it's just rotated 90 degrees. I've had issues with Chinese mounts before because they assumed you could just use the Garmin interface. However, the mount also has to support the 90 degree rotation. If not, the Wahoo computer isn't straight.

I had considered it, just hadn't seen one I liked yet.  The finish on that one is better than the anodized options but the mounting still looks a little clunky to me.  Prob still better than the old top of stem mount.

You have 4 holes each at 90°, so you can turn the mount in the direction you want
