Reasonable Chinese wheels
« on: May 07, 2021, 03:22:51 PM »
Hi all,
My next project is a 49cm road bike for my kids.
Can anyone suggest a reasonably price wheelset for disk brakes 6 screw and 12 mm thru axle?
Thanks

Depends how reasonably priced you need ... aluminium or carbon?

I just bought a set of carbon wheels from 'Elite Wheels' on AliExpress and I've been really impressed with the quality for the price

I paid £258 ($360), which is kind of crazy considering that many 'branded' aluminium disc wheels cost more.

Thanks for the reminder.
Which model did you buy?

Thanks Nick, I bought elite carbon and I would recommend them.
Does anyone have experience of aluminium or other good carbon?

I've been using csc brand carbon wheels and they've been great. Im 104kg and I've put over 1200 miles on them so far with 0 issues.

I am using several carbon wheel sets from CSC and Elitewheels.

Following are in use for several thousand km without issues:
CSC / 50mm high / 25mm wide / Novatec D411/D412 Hubs / Mac Spokes
CSC / 38mm high / 25mm wide / Novatec D411/D412 Hubs / Pillar 1423 Spokes
Elitewheels / 35mm high / 32mm wiede / DT 350 Hubs / Pillar 1423 Spokes

In my opinion you can safely go with either vendor. Depending on the trim configuration you want for your project.

New arrival:
Finally received a new wheelset from InFiber. Communication and shipping speed was not great but the wheelset looks good.
Will be my first Tubeless setup with 32mm wide Panaracer Road tires.
Wheel Specs: InFiber / 45mm high / 29mm wide / Novatec D411/D412 Humbs / Mac Spokes

Owner of farsports dt350 with sapim.

I think with novas and pillars for classic its maybe $500 but theyre a bit heavy imo.

I crashed this past monday and both wheels have a very small scratch on both of them but i think theyre gonna be bulletproof given i fell at 35 mph and they didnt snap in half.

The fall was my fault, sharp turn. not the frame and wheels.
