Does anyone know the headset specs for a Tantan FM199?
« on: June 01, 2021, 10:24:45 AM »
I bought a frame with headset, but they forgot to include the headset bearings. I have asked them twice now to just give me the specs on the bearings, but they keep asking me to re-check the box. I would prefer to just buy the headset than continue to mess around with them. Does anyone have measurement or specs on this frame?

How difficult can it be.

https://www.google.com/search?q=fm-199+frame+headset

First result => headset: top 1-1/8", down 1-1/2"

Search on AliExpress and .... YEAH!

You're welcome.

I haven't had this specific model, but we had a couple of other frames from this brand and they were regular IS42/IS52 tapered bearings, probably with spacers. So 41.8mm top, 51.8mm bottom. Can you measure your frame?

Thanks, that does about add up (42/52) but my digital calipers ran out of battery and I cant find any more in the drawer where all things go missing. So I am eyeballing using a metric ruler. Ill give it a go, probably will buy from a domestic source to avoid having to wait weeks.

LOL pretty much, but i'd search ebay since buyer wants "domestic source"

I was buying the "Cane Creek IS3 E2 1-1/8" - 1.5" Tapered Headset Assembly 40-Series Black" from ebay for $20 back before the run on bikes.  If we are getting really specific, I really prefer  the look of the tall cover headsets on most frames.
